This review will be on “theBalm Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette.”
Introducing theBalm’s latest addition to the Nude series… Nude Dude! Get a quick look using any combination of these triple-milled shadows or dress up your look by adding water to transform your favorite shades into loyal liners. This total package includes 12 full-bodied shadows that can be worn alone or layered for added intensity, so go ahead and cover (or uncover) your eyes.
My Experience with theBalm Nude Dude Volume 2 Nude Eyeshadow Palette:
Packaging: theBalm is known for their cheeky packaging – some like it while some find it objectifying. I personally don’t mind it, in fact, I find it quite unique and it adds that dash of spice to my otherwise quite conservative (when compared to this palette) makeup collection.
This palette is a sort of sequel to the popular “Nude Tude” palette which featured pin up girls. The Nude dude palette features, as you might have guessed it already, “n*de dudes” (not really due to strategically placed eyeshadows). This palette is enough to make a grown women giggle like a teenager 😛
This palette comes with a small dual-ended brush. Both tips are slanted, one side is supposed to be an angled liner brush and the other side features the same shape, but is a bit bigger and fluffier which I suppose could be used as an eyeshadow packing or blending brush. These brushes are too small for my liking and I frankly don’t think I will prefer using them over my regular makeup brush, so for now, it is just hanging out with the guys 😛
Texture: All the shadows in this palette are very smooth. They do not feel chalky and are very easy to use. They do not kick up a whole lot of powder when you dip your brush in.
Pigmentation: All these shadows have pretty good pigmentation. It is not difficult to apply or intensify the color to get it to be opaque. They blend out and layer beautifully. The balm makeup is known for their high-quality makeup products and these eyeshadows definitely testify to that.
Shades: This palette is filled with mostly neutral shades from the gold, brown, mauve and black color family. It has a good mix of matte and shimmers. The spectrum of colors in this palette will be flattering for everyone regardless your skin tone. All the shadows are the names of the attributes these guys supposedly have and which every girl looks for in her man.
Fearless – A satin finish pale peach vanilla color. Perfect for highlighting inner corner or brow bone.0
Flawless – A matte taupe brown. A great transition or crease color.
Firm – is a shimmery/metallic finish golden bronze shade.
Flirty – is a duo chrome shade with a pale pink/lavender base and golden shift, my favorite from this palette.
Friendly – is a deep eggplant almost bordering on deep brown. It has a matte finish and pairs beautifully with Flirty (no surprise there since “Flirty” and “Friendly” is a irresistible combo in any man :P).
Fierce – is a black (a soft black, not jet black) with silver shimmer thrown in.
Fabulous- A satin finish pale gold. Perfect for highlighting inner corner of brow bone.
Faithful- A metallic finish light gold.
Fit- A metallic finish rose gold.
Feisty- A pale rosy brown matte shade
Funny- is a satin finish reddish brown. It is a very earthy shade.
Fine- is a dark chocolatey brown with hint of shimmer. Also has a satin finish.
Staying Power: These shadows wear very well. I saw no creasing or fading for 7-8 hours, the time that I usually wear makeup for.
Overall, I love this palette much more than I should. My husband was appalled when he saw me using this (he he), but I still continue to use it despite that and he did compliment the eye look I created using this (See attached EOTD), so it’s not a total loss. He will eventually accept my relationship with these dudes 😛 And I highly recommend you getting them ..Err I mean this 😛
In the EOTD:
I have used Flirty all over lid with Faithful in the center of the lid for extra sparkle; “Friendly” in the crease and “Fierce” in the outer V. “Flawless” and “Feisty” as a transition shade and “Fabulous” as a highlight. I have also used purple eyeliner (Lime crime orchidaceous – review coming soon) topped with black eyeliner and mascara.
Hope you enjoyed this review.
