Shyna asks:

Please help me in solving this problem. I am in my thirties with few strands of white hair. Till now, I had been using henna but since I have oily scalp, frequent washes fade off the color. I have a wedding to attend so I wanted to know whether I can color my hair once with a recommended hair color and come back to henna as everyone says its more safe and herbal.

  1. i personally prefer hair coloring. I started in my 30s too. Henna for me gives that very orangey look and I dont like that. For hair color it would be best to get it done at the parlour. They’ll also give you tips on hair care after coloring.

For starters, a more natural shade like medium brown (you dont want black as it will loo too artificial) will look good.Once you get comfy with hair color, try a mahogany or maybe highlights etc.:)

    good luck.

  2. I got my hair colored once (Loreal INOA, natural brown color which the hair stylist made by mixing two shades). But after a few days, i had a very bad hairfall and it took almost 6 months to control my hairfall. I didnt know whether its the shampoos and conditoners that I used (the color protect range from Loreal professional) or the color itself. After 6 months, my hair turned to a dirty brown (almost copper color) which is due to the fading of the color. I then used Lush caca noir to get the dirty brown to a darker shade which didn’t look too odd.

Does anyone have the same experience with hair colors?

  3. i has a really bad experience with garnier hair color..and i agree with the above comment..when the color wears off..it looks horrible !! I personally use Lush henna caca brun and marron .But for grey hair coverage, they may not be a well suited option. Try shades of black and darkest brown from L’oreal. Have heard they are good. Also don’t forget to take that extra special care for colored hair !
