Tips & Toes Pressed Powder with SPF 15

Hey there!

Let me start by saying that I like have a combination skin that at times seems like the Sahara desert and at others a tropical rainforest. It disgusts me and makes me want to dunk my head in a tub of ice, but I somehow rein in my suicidal tendencies :p and be on a constant lookout for products that will matte-ify my face without making me look like a plastic doll. The product I am going to review is perhaps a milestone on my journey to an HG product. It isn’t the destination but definitely a moment to celebrate.

Packaging:

It comes in the regular compact type packaging that most pressed powders come in. The outer body is a shimmery greyish silver which looks pretty and seems fairly sturdy. It snaps shut with a click and it doesn’t seem particularly fragile either. The compact also has a mirror for on the go touch ups which I think is an integral part of any compact.

My take on Tips & Toes Pressed Powder with SPF 15

My brother’s wedding happened recently and my family was all aflutter. My skincare went for a toss and I began looking sallow and oily faced. Definitely not the look one goes for a bro’s wedding, but nevertheless I went looking for a quick fix solution for all the pre wedding ceremonies which were not important enough to warrant a makeup artist. Let me tell you that shopping in Chennai is a complete and utter drag, especially if you just have a nincompoop driver that knows nothing about the area. With patience like mine, all I could do was go to the closest market and pick up the first compact I could get my hands on.

I had never heard of this company/brand before, but after seeing that it had quite a few reviews on IMBB (Thanks guys!) I grew brave and decided to take the plunge. Seeing it’s price tag, heartened me further.

My experience with Tips & Toes Pressed Powder with SPF 15:

this product is average, it keeps my combi skin matte for about 2.5-3 hours after which a quick touch up sorts out any problematic areas. But excessive application, even a tad too much could make me look pale and statue-like in photos so I had to be very careful. It was also a perfect match for my skin, so that was a plus. But somehow, seeing as this was the only compact in the near vicinity (you can’t exactly find places to shove a compact in Indian outfits :p) my mom and aunt sometimes used it too. It matched their skin well too even though my mom is atleast 4-5 shades lighter and my aunt about 2-3 shades darker than me. I know it was highly unhygienic, but a girl’s gotta do what she gotta do. :p

The powder puff which comes with this is very frail looking and looks like it’ll disintegrate soon enough. But I prefer using my e.l.f. Kabuki for pressed powders anyway, so I don’t really care. Also, they only have a list of active ingredients as opposed to a complete ingredient list which should be a red flag for everyone, as it certainly is for me. But all in all, at this price point it is one of the best products available and a very affordable option for college students.

  1. You can’t exactly find places to shove a compact in Indian outfits! *hihi* *hihi* So true!! Damn why dont Indian outfits come with secret pockets!! Yeah Lakme radiance compact is much better than this and costs marginally more. 🙂

    1. I know, right??!? I am so getting an Indian outfit with secret pockets…. *pompom*
I have tried that compact but my combi skin has excessively active oil glands… *nababana*
