Tom Ford Love Lust Cheek Color Review

I have wanted this blush for the longest time. While reviewing the Laura Geller Papaya Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl Blush, I mentioned that Papaya was touted to be a dupe of Love Lust and I was kicked about being able to get my hands on an affordable version of Love Lust. However, when I finally saw Love Lust and swatched it, I realized that I had to pick this. So, I finally forked out the King’s ransom and bought this. Lets find out more about it.

Product Description:
Symmetrical, sculpted cheekbones are vital to creating the Tom Ford look.

This sumptuous powder blush delivers layers of possibility, from a sexy glow to a more dramatic, color-rich look. Formulated with spherical pearls and rich emollients, it glides onto skin with the comfort of a cream, achieving outstanding luminosity and a velvety transparency.

USD $60 for 8gms/THB 2200/INR 4400

Yes, the price is steep. One has to remember that this is Tom Ford. You are getting more product than most high-end blushes which generally range from 4-6gms.

The product comes packaged in a neat and elegant case with gold detailing. The case has a big mirror but no applicator. Like most high end brands, it’s housed inside a suede sleeve, which is further, packaged in a cardboard box. The packaging is elegant and high-end.

My Experience with Tom Ford Love Lust Cheek Color:

Color: The shade, Love Lust, is THE most natural peach shade I have come across. It’s a soft coral with gold shimmer, leans more peach and has just a hint of pink. I kind of expected this to be medium shade like Flush. But was surprised to see that it is actually a very subtle colour. Don’t get me wrong, it shows up very clearly on my medium NC 30-35 skin tone. However, it is a very delicate shade. Not your full-on bang of coral/peach – but a more wearable and flattering shade.

I have seen a lot of people comparing it to Nars Orgasm and Deep Throat. However, I find it to be distinctly different from them. They lean more pink, while this one stays more peach. It’s very easy to wear this shade and it adds a bit of freshness and dimension to the face. There is fine shimmer, however, it does not translate into shimmer onto the skin. On the skin, it’s more like a sheen.

Is Laura Geller Papaya an actual dupe of this? Well, it definitely is in the same colour family and about 75% there. But, not really an exact dupe! This shade looks more natural and is definitely more becoming. And, apart from the shade itself, the quality of the the product is in a total different league.

Texture: Extremely finely milled and ever so smooth. It’s an extremely blendable texture. It transfers easily onto the brush or finger and applies naturally. It applies evenly, there is no patchiness. It feels creamy to the touch – though it is a powder product. The quality is top notch. You do not need to put any effort into blending it. It blends like a dream. It’s probably the best texture. This is the smoothest and the best texture I have ever come across in a blush.

Pigmentation: Excellent pigmentation! The shade itself is delicate but it shows up easily onto the skin. You really do not need to build it up. You can apply it as a barely there flush. It’s totally your call.

Lasting power: The blush quality is apparent here as well. It gives good 9-10 hours of wear. And does not get patchy.

Visibility on Skin: The colour shows up easily on my NC30-35 skin tone. One gentle swipe of the brush gives amazing pigmentation. However, considering the shade itself, not sure how well it would show up on darker skin tones. So would advise you to try before you buy, just like I did!

Pros of Tom Ford Love Lust Cheek Color:

• Finely milled, smooth, easily blendable – almost creamy in texture
• Excellent pigmentation
• Lasts well for over 9-10 hours on my oily face
• The color works well for day and night both
• The product has an amazing sheen which does not accentuate the pores
• Gorgeous packaging
• Did not break me out

Cons of Tom Ford Love Lust Cheek Color:

• Nothing

IMBB Rating:

Overall Thoughts:
I do feel that it makes more sense investing in one good blush which could maybe work with a host of lipstick colours than investing in a plethora of cheaper options which take effort to work with and get patchy over time. But, does that one good blush need to be 4.5K worth? Well, that’s between your wallet and you.

You could find really good options at a lower price point than this, like the blushes from NARS or Chanel. However, if you do decide to splurge, you will definitely not regret picking it up! And you do get a tonne of product too. So, that one blush will last you a fairly long time! For a beauty addict like me, I would have preferred the quantity and the price to be halved instead! But that’s just me!
