Tom Ford Sable Smoke Lip Color Review

Hello everyone,

There’s a brand that can never get wrong with whatever they do, yes, Tom Ford it is! This brand’s beauty products are expensive, but you get what you pay for – top notch packaging, awesome formulation, and beautiful selection of colors. I think the formulation of these lipsticks and Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks is quite similar (or rather same), so I generally go for Charlotte’s lipsticks, but some shades in Tom Ford are absolutely stunning and I cannot resist the urge to add them into my lipstick collection.  “Sable Smoke” is one such lipstick shade from Tom Ford 🙂

Product Description:
To Tom Ford, there is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip. It is the focus of the face and it has the power to define a woman’s whole look. Each lip color is tom ford’s modern ideal of an essential makeup shade. Rare and exotic ingredients including soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil create an ultra-creamy texture with an incredibly smooth application. Specially treated color pigments are blended to deliver pure color with just the right balance of luminosity.

My Experience with Tom Ford Sable Smoke Lip Color:

The packaging of this lipstick is beautiful! The case is a rectangle, black, shiny tube with gold trim. It’s heavy and luxe  – everything you would want and expect from the packaging when you pay such a hefty price for a lipstick.

The lipstick itself is beautiful, it’s a slant cut bullet with the initials TF embossed on the top part of the lipstick. I love when brands add a bit of something to make their lipstick stand out 🙂 It’s a sturdy bullet and would not come off its base easily.

The shade “Sable Smoke” is a beautiful caramel n*de shade which would look stunning on light to medium skin tones. This lipstick is creamy, nicely pigmented, and glides on the lips like a dream.

The texture of the lipstick is semi matte.  The formula is comfortable and non drying. The lipstick has a slight sheen to it and feels very hydrating on the lips. This particular shade settles into the fine lines but I had tried cary and flamingo from tom ford they never settle into the fine lines, but when I apply the second layer, it does not settle down like the first layer.

This lipstick does not feather or bleed and it does not tug or pull on the lips during application. The staying power is around 5 hours and it does leave a light stain behind. The color does not come up opaque in just one swipe, you need two swipes to deposit the full color on the lips. It’s quite forgiving on dry lips, you do not need to exfoliate your lips prior to application.

Sable Smoke does fade away completely after a heavy meal. As I have mentioned, it would suit light to medium skin tones, would not look that great on dusky and dark skin tones. You can easily sport this shade to office.  You can also pair it with heavy smokey eyes. This lipstick applies easily because of its smooth texture. Lip liner to keep the lipstick in place is not necessary.

This lipstick feels very comfortable on the lips and does not accentuate any dry patches on the lips. It has a vanilla scent to it, which I am quite okay about. I think “Sable Smoke” is such a beautiful n*de shade, a must-have for every “n*de lisptick” lover.
