Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Makeup Mist Review

Hi guys!

This product is from my Tony Moly haul. I am lucky enough to have found a Tony Moly store here in Tokyo, even though there are a billion more Korean brands I wanna try. Let’s see if this was one of the good ones.

Packaging:  The product comes in a small, plastic, pink bottle with a protective cap. The nozzle of the bottle is very small. There is 80 mL liquid inside.

My Thoughts on Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Makeup Mist:

This is a bi-phase product, with oil and water-based products in the bottle. To use it, you have to shake it every time, otherwise you will only end up using the water-based product. One of the most awesome aspects of this product is the nozzle which is really tiny. Because of this, the mist it creates is very fine. I don’t even feel like I sprayed anything on half of my face even after 2-3 passes and so I end up spraying many more times and wasting product. A problem with the fine mist is that it sprays out horizontally. So, it goes everywhere, which results in wastage. Within 2 weeks, I have finished more than half of the bottle.

Another problem with the product is that if you spray too much, it just feels like oil on the skin and makes me feel extremely greasy. In the name, it says it’s a luminous spray (confirmed with the store helper), but I don’t feel it makes my skin luminous at all. I am all for dewy skin and looking mildly like a greaseball even though I have combination skin. In comparison, MAC Fix+ (which is not a setting mist) can be used in a number of different ways.

Makeup mist

It is more of a refreshing mist and can be used before and after makeup application, but it does impart a dewy finish. This just does not feel like it is doing anything to my skin. My biggest expectation when it comes to a setting spray/mist is that it should settle the powders (like blush, bronzer, highlighter, setting powder, and even brow powder) down and make my makeup last longer. Sadly, this does not do either of these things. Also, whatever finish I do get, disappears very quickly and I feel I have to reapply after about 4-5 hours.

Pros of Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Makeup Mist:

  • Nozzle is small, so the mist is very very fine.
  • Refreshes the skin.

Cons of Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Makeup Mist:

  • Even with a few spritzes, it does not feel like there is anything on the skin.
  • Does nothing to increase longevity or look of my makeup.
  • Does not give a luminous finish.
  • Does not settle the powders (like blush, bronzer, highlighter, setting powder) on the face.
  • You can get through the product quickly if you spray a lot each time.
  • Have to shake the bottle each time you use it.
  • If you spray too much product on the face, it looks and feels like pure oil on the skin – not comfortable.

Would I Repurchase Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Makeup Mist?
I actually bought this because I ran out of Fix+ and wanted a cheaper alternative. I sadly don’t think this is up to par for me personally and would not repurchase. I wish MAC Fix+ had a similar nozzle though.

  1. Ramya, it’s really awesome that you are reviewing Korean brands, they make the best skin care. Coming to this particular product, I do not like anything that adds grease to my oily skin 🙁
