Tony Moly Tony Tint Delight – #1 Cherry Pink Review

Hi guys,

I went to the Tony Moly store and picked up the most famous product from their line – the lip tint! The Reddit thread dedicated to Tony Moly had a universal opinion that these were good, which was the motivation for me to go to the store in the first place (I am a lip product junkie). Let’s see if it is really worth the hype 🙂

My Experience with Tony Moly Tony Tint Delight – #1 Cherry Pink:

Packaging:  The product comes in a plastic see-through container with a lid which has a heart design on it. The lid can sometimes spring open, but this does not spill the product in any way. The heart design actually makes holding the product in your hands a smidgen easier. The packaging is minimalistic yet really pretty.

Shade:  This shade is a deep berry color. It can be sheered out to a lighter wash of colour, which looks just as beautiful.

Consistency: The consistency of this product is absolutely wonderful. It is in between a creamy and a watery consistency. The closest product I have to a tint/stain is the Benefit Benetint. Benetint is a terrible product in my opinion because it is watery and very difficult to get it to show on the lips. It performs better as a cheek product to be honest. But the Tony Moly tint has a slightly thicker consistency and the applicator (flattened doe foot) does make it quite easy to spread on the lips. That being said, it can take a bit of effort to completely get the pigment in the product to spread across the lips uniformly though. Because this particular shade is a darker colour and will stain a bit if applied wonkily, I recommend using a lip liner. Drying of the product takes about 1-2 minutes. The application sadly can get a bit patchy, so you have to take your time to do it right.  Surprisingly, it applied more evenly with my finger than with the doe-foot applicator.

Layering: You can layer this up how much ever you want. You can wait or not wait between two coats. It layers well because of its consistency. The more you layer, the more intense the pigment will be. So, you can get this shade to get really really deep and intense.

Staining:  In swatches, when you wipe away the product, you can clearly see the stain. You can see the same effect on the lips, but it won’t leave a stain behind at the end of the day. This is a weird product because it only stained a portion of my lips (the inner ring of the lower lips). The stain remained there for a good two days. So, I am not a fan of this aspect.

Staying Power:  This feature again is very unusual. It seems to stay put after it dries, but it will lose a bit of intensity when it hits water while it is drying. So, if you splash your face with water/get caught in the rain/drink, you will lose intensity of the pigment; the pigment gets splotchy and uneven and so you might want to reapply. That is why I recommend a lip liner, so even if the pigment in the product runs, the lips still look good because of the base you laid down.

Applicator:  The applicator on this is a flattened doe-foot applicator. It does hold a good amount of product and does spread the product relatively okay.

Finish: The finish of the product is somewhere between a satin and a matte finish. There is a little bit of sheen due to the moisture in the product, but as time goes by, it tends to go more to the matte side.

Transfer/bleeding: It will transfer a little after it sets, but it does not bleed.

Coverage-wise, you can get a sheer look than the one in the photo by putting a blob in the centre of your lips and spreading it out with a finger.

  • Nice demi-matte to matte finish.
  • Stays on relatively well after it dries.
