Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo Review

I marvel “Too Faced” makeup products. It is one of the high-end brands whose products mostly become cult favorites. You probably know this brand for their nine-color eye shadow palettes, chocolate soleil bronzer, superb holiday palettes, chocolate and semi chocolate eye shadow palette. I still ponder how to get hold of one of the holiday palettes. Here I am going to review their highlighter Candlelight Glow Powder Duo.

Packaging:
It is a circular plastic case. The top lid portion is cream colored and the bottom portion is brown gold colored. The case is quite thick and study. No amount of rough use is going to break it. The lid has a backdrop of a chandelier in pink color on which “Too Faced Candlelight Glow” is printed. As we open the lid, the same chandelier design is embossed on the product too. At the back of the lid, there is a good size mirror provided. The product is divided all the way to the bottom in pink and gold white color. The shades are named as “Sheer Gold” and “Gilded Rose” on its site. The product looks very luxurious with its golden border all around and a chandelier embossing. The amount of product by weight is 10 gm. There is no applicator provided.

Texture:  The texture of both the sides of the powder is a bit different. When you try to take a swatch from the gilded rose side, it comes out to be harder than the sheer gold side. Sheer gold also looks chalk like when taken on the finger, but upon being swatched, it gives a nice gold sheen much like The Balm’s Mary Lou Manizer. The sheer gold shade powder is softer and hence it is more powder like than gilded rose. There is no major spillage though. There are no chunky shimmer particles in the formula. Shades contain Titanium dioxide, which is a warning for flash back disaster. The shades are buildable and blend-able easily.

Pigmentation:  “Gilded rose” shade is a soft iridescent pink color and “Sheer Gold” is a very light golden beige color. Both have a very subtle iridescent glow in them. A single application gives a natural glow, but if you overdo it, it can easily look like a snail trail on your face. In the swatches, both colors look similar, but gilded rose is a little bit on the pink side.

This rose color is more favorable for medium skin tone. The golden color looks chalk like on medium skin tones. This highlighter is not suitable for dark complexion users as the shades stand out completely. The rose color does not yield as much pigmentation as the golden color. You can use both the color mixed or separately. My favorite method of application is with a fan brush like the Eco tools one.

Staying Power:  The staying power is quite long for up to 5-6 hours. After that, you need to reapply. For a highlighter, this staying power is a bonus as they fade fast.

Would I Recommend Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo?
Yes, I will recommend to everyone. Although this product could not be a very famous cult favorite product, still it was able to please a major crowd and of course me 😛 Many people compared “Sheer Gold” shade to Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in shade Opal. This was sufficient reason for me to buy and try it.
