My Experience with Too Faced Cocoa Contour Face Contouring and Highlighting Kit:

I have been so into contouring lately. I love how it can give a beautiful dimension to the face. I have previously reviewed the Anastasia Contour Kit and the Kat V D Shade+Light palette, which you can check out if you would like to know more about your options.

Packaging:  This product comes in a sturdy cardboard box. The box is a bit thick to travel with, but I do love the fact that it does come with a good-sized mirror and a brush.  The brush is absolutely wonderful and it is a brush I thoroughly enjoy using as much as the product itself. This brush has similar style bristles like from the Teddy Bear Hair line. It is angled cut, fits perfectly under the hollow of my cheeks and right around my hairline and is so soft and dense that it blends the powder like a dream without any effort. It does not shed at all and is made of synthetic bristles.

Texture:  These powders are so smooth and have almost creamy and silky texture. They have very good pigmentation except for the “Pop of Light” shade. They blend seamlessly and effortlessly and do not feel chalky at all. They do not go patchy and the pigmentation is easily buildable. I do love the formula of these powders a lot.

Shade:  All of these 4 shades work harmoniously with my light-medium skin tone (for reference, I am MAC NW22-25). I do not consider myself a contouring expert and there have been days where it looks like I have tiger stripes on my face, but this product makes it so easy to get a defined contoured look.  I mostly go for the natural-looking contour, but you could definitely achieve a nice chiseled look if you were to use this for that purpose.

Light Cocoa:  This is a nice creamy white shade. Does look ashy on my face. The area seems brightened and lit from within.

Medium Cocoa:  This is one of those greyish taupe shades, perfect to contour cheeks with as it mimics how shadows look. It does not look too harsh on my skin and does give me chiseled cheeks. I layer this shade first and then go over it with Dark Cocoa to get a very natural bronzed-contoured look.

Dark Cocoa:  This is the perfect shade to bronze up the skin with. It is neither too brown nor too orange. It has the right amount of warmth to be used on the areas to achieve that beautiful sun-kissed tan. I use it layered over the medium cocoa shade for the most natural contoured look.

Pop of Light:  This is my least favorite shade in the bunch. It is very sheer and gives “little to no color payoff,” but does give lots of shimmer. It has small bits of golden shimmer which are not gritty, but they are definitely big enough to be detectable on the face.  They do give a glow to the face from afar, but from up close, you can definitely see the shimmer particles on your face. The shimmer also seems to slide all over my face as the day wears on.

Staying Power:  It has good staying power, 7-8 hours with very minimal fading.

This kit also comes with a beautifully illustrated booklet which shows you how to use this kit and I actually found it quite helpful.

The best part about this kit is that it smells so deliciously of chocolates. It makes my mouth water every time I use this. This kit is the only reason that I now need to keep a box of chocolate on my vanity to ease my sweet tooth.

Too Faced Cocoa Contour Face Contouring and Highlighting Kit

Overall, a fantastic quality product which I am enjoying very much. This product does come in very close in tie to my favorite Kat Von D light+shade palette, but I would still give the award to Kat Von D’s kit simply because of the variety of shades provided in it and the fact that those powders are all matte without shimmer which is my preference as I do love using my own Becca highlighter.

I highly recommend this product.
