Hola Beautiful IMBBians!!!

This the second Too Faced product I bought as part of the IMBB sponsored scheme and it’s one of its kind. The usage and promo of this product is so unique that I had to buy it without pondering too much over the efficacy of this product or how often I would reach for this product in future.  Continue reading to more about this product.

Too Faced No Filter Selfie Powders

My Take on Too Faced No Filter Selfie Powders:

This palette contains three “lightweight, finishing face powders” meant to act like photo filters in real life. The powders are dry, but super soft with minimal fall out and give a part matte, part dewy finish. But the drawback is that it is harder to dust these powders evenly as all-over finishing powders. On my skin tone, only the bronzing powder worked well; the brightening one made my complexion look yellower, especially because I have yellow undertones – I don’t want to look like I have jaundice. Finally, the illuminating powder smoothed out pores, it didn’t actually add any visible radiance and made my skin look very flat and matte and “vampire-ish.”

Packaging: A hard cardboard palette with in-built mirror and three square slots to hold the powders. It doesn’t come with a brush or any king of applicator.

Colors:  When I used the product as directed, I ended up removing all of my base products and then had to redo it from the scratch, since they really made me look worse – sick or scary and since there is still some time for Halloween, I didn’t want to go with either of the look.

Too Faced No Filter Selfie Powders

Sunrise:  It is described as a “brightening diffused warmth.” It’s a light-medium lemon yellow with a satin finish. It is not exactly sheer, but it’s actually more pigmented than just translucent, and as a result, it actually turned my skin yellow – like I had jaundice. It accentuated my yellow undertones in a ghastly manner and made me look like I chose the wrong shade of foundation.

Totally Toasted:  It is described as a “bronzed smoothing glow.” It’s a muted, medium gold-shimmered brown with warm undertones and a soft sheen. It is more pigmented than most translucent powders; in fact, it is more of a bronzer than a finishing powder. For those who like their bronzers more matte, once that top layer disappears, it applies with such translucent coverage that there’s almost no visible shimmer on the skin. The effect is subtle but does warm my skin up slightly; however, I have to be extra cautious while using it or would have bronze shimmer all over my face.

Moon River:  It is described as a “cool ethereal light.” It’s a sheer, lavender color with strong white undertones and subtle satin shimmer. It is translucent but is way too cool toned for me. It made my skin appear smoother, like most of the powders without adding any luminosity or glow and made my face appear eerie like a vampire.

The shades are meant for light, medium and dark skin tones, but I doubt if they are meant to do what they claim. They might look good under flash photography but they are definitely not meant for everyday wear unless one desires to stand out with outlandish makeup.

Pros of Too Faced No Filter Selfie Powders:

  • Cute hard board packaging.
  • There’s a picture of Chihuahua showing the effects of powders.
  • Shade range is for medium to darker skin tones.
  • No fragrance.
  • Stays for at least 8 to 10 hours.
  • Can be used for some other purpose other than a translucent powder.

Cons of Too Faced No Filter Selfie Powders:

  • Definitely doesn’t do what it claims.
  • Powders are way too pigmented for a finishing powder.
  • Expensive.
  • Looks sick/ghastly.

Would I Repurchase Too Faced No Filter Selfie Powders?
No, because it has an insane concept and is of no use. I recommend them only for Halloween makeup or else no.
