My Top 5 Makeup Products for Monsoon

It has been horribly humid in Delhi these days but I have been able to figure a simple makeup routine that keeps my face fresh for hours at a stretch. Here you go πŸ™‚

Makeup Primer : Whether I am wearing a liquid foundation or not, I apply a makeup primer. It helps in keeping my face shine free Β and fresh looking for long hours. And it definitely makes my makeup last long.

Compact : Totally cannot under estimate the power of compact. I apply my primer, then concealer and follow up with a compact either using a puff or a powder brush. I use at a couple of times a day to bring back life to my face.

Highlighting pens / light concealers : I rarely ever wear a foundation all over my face during the day but concealers are a must. My under eyes somehow look quite tired especially during this humid weather. These light weight concealers help me giving that woken up fresh look. They help in concealing the light blemishes and brightening the overall face.

Matte Blushes : Matte blushes look great during the day. They look natural . They don’t add the unnecessary shine to the face. They add that natural flush of color to your face without being over the top.

Matte Brown eyeshadow : Instant wake me up trick. Just apply a wash of matte brown eyeshadow (slightly lighter than your skin tone) all over your lid. Apply kohl and mascara. You’d notice the difference within seconds . πŸ™‚

After 4-5 hours the humidity around makes my face look tired. So I carry a few tissues and a rose water bottle in my kit. I spray my face with rose water, wipe with tissues, apply moisturizer( if needed), double up lipstick as a blush, set everything with compact , apply lipstick. ta da! fresh face within 2-3 minutes. πŸ™‚

and that’s the arm candy of the day πŸ˜‰

So how do you follow up your makeup routine for monsoon season? πŸ™‚

  1. Ahaa!! Ur new espirit watch!! Like the bracelets.. So cute πŸ˜€

my monsoon makeup is simple.. Follow ctm in the morning.. Then some tbs loose powder and loreal blush.. Kajal and masscara.. And clinique chubby stick for lips.. During the day.. I keep splashing some water on my face and use johnson baby wet wipes to keep me going πŸ˜€

    1. yeah wet wipes are a fab idea. i am so stuck with rose water though i always forget about them. πŸ˜€ yeahs kajal and mascara toh go without saying. πŸ˜›

      thankoo πŸ˜€

  2. Since australia is sub tropical we dont sweat much ,….but whenever I go to parts of Asia I carry a bottle of Avenue thermal water and spray it all over my face during the day.I also try to wear a tinted moisturiser … Lotus matte 3 in 1 sunblock works well for me

    1. here is sooo super humid supriya. hate how my face looks after a couple of hours. i also keep lotting sheets handy. πŸ™‚ i am using the avene thermal water. it’s pretty awesome. πŸ™‚

  3. love your routine..i too dont wear foundations everyday..but do try to wear concealer and of course compacts are a must! any suggestions for illuminating concealers but in drug store brands?

  4. Hey Rati nice and light makeup routine. Even I do not apply any foundation during the day. πŸ™‚
But I can’t find a good concealer for under eyes. Whatever I have used so far makes my under eye area grey. Please help πŸ™

    1. i guess you would have to find the right shade of concealer for yourself. try the nw range from mac. it has peachy undertones and it discards the greyishness underneath the eyes. πŸ™‚

  5. My monsoon routine is really simple.
I use a pencil eyeliner on my lids, slightly smudge it with dark blue or black eye shadow. Or if my under eyes are looking darker, I line my lower rims with smudged kajal, which also I set with e/s – hate smudgey kajal.
    Loads of water proof mascara.
A brown blush in the hollows of my cheeks for contouring.
Midimauve lipstick (which also doubles up as a blush in emergencies and matches every outfit) πŸ˜›
That’s it – I simply cant be bothered with more than this.

    I love that chanel compact Ratidooooooo πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

    1. it’s sooo fab no j doo. totally loving it. :))

i also like smudgy kajals. do that like every other day. πŸ™‚

and i loved midi mauve. used it a lot. πŸ™‚

  6. Loved the tip about makeup primer. Will try the combo of primer+compact. Hoping for some good results with this combination.

  7. nice tips for a quick touch up Rati. I carry tissues with me, but your idra of keeping rose water sounds really nice. Will try this πŸ™‚

  8. I use the Clinique City Block SPF 40 that is supposed to act as a primer as well…it does a pretty decent job…but my skin is so oily that my makeup starts to slide after a while…and you are right…compacts are a life saver in this weather, I love my Mac studio fix for that πŸ™‚
You have normal to dry skin right?

  9. oh yeah, Delhi is horribly humid these days!!! I also follow the above steps, though with different products. not into eyeshadows for daily wear, so I skip that…

    My routine (very oily skin):
    Primer- MAC Matte, reviewed here
Concealer: Inglot under eye concealer, I double it up for the face too (lazy!!!)
Powder: MAC studio fix powder plus foundation
highlighter for night time strictly: Chambor single blush-soft plum, used sparingly
Blush: lakme pure rouge honey bunch, reviewed here

  10. wowiiee Rati me totally loving the chanel puff.. that shape looks so cute… and the arm candy is sooo gorgeous.. :*

I wonder why I never use a concealer. I must start using it soon I have developed horrible dark circles.. πŸ™

  11. Great list Rati…know what..concealers and compacts are my HG these days..even when I am indoors, I ensure that I apply concealer to hide my horrible under eye dark circles (owing to lack of sleep, weather changes and health changes), and pat some compact over my face….Makes me look and feel a hell lot better.. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

  12. I just apply Lacto Calamine coz it rains anytime in Pune, I dont want my makeup to start coming down :(. I am really scared of that!

  13. i do the same to my mac primer.whether or not i wear foundation i do apply the primer and the ysl toche eclat oh la la la!!!!!!

  14. *dumb alert*

If you have applied primer, concealer, powder and all the works…..then spray rose water (I know u are doing it after say 4 or 5 hrs) and wipe doesn’t it all get messed up?!?!

You guessed it right, I don’t apply makeup regularly. In fact, very very very occasionally!

  15. wow.. loved your routine Rati. i usually mix a dot of the foundation to my moisturizer and use it in the day. just curious to know if i use this routine of rosewater.. my foundation might get wiped off.. i usually take of my makeup and the end of the day.. i do start looking tired after a few hours. can you help me with what i can do RAti..

  16. Same problem here Gurpreet!! But I don’t use foundation now in this humid weather…but concealer and compact are must!! I should have that fab india rose water!! Nice post Rati!!
