1)U can try using some bleaching creams which contains hydroquinone or tretinoin and sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 because sun exposure worsens the condition.
2)U can also opt for a chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment.With both of these treatment methods, the upper layer of the epidermis is removed so that fresh new skin will grow to replace it.Both cause mild discomfort.
So i would suggest you to go with bleaching and sunscreen application because it does not causes any problem.

My mother swears by haldi Sharmishta… My upper lip has always been dark and I wanted some cure for it.. Mom suggested a mix of 2 types of haldi (one is the regular one, the other is a bit ornage-ish, dunno what it is called!! :chewnails: :chewnails: ) with some sandalwood paste – as I had burning sensation with haldi. It has started working in a week or so, so am really happy with it. On lazy days I just take some haldi and add some water and apply just before shower and rinse off… Works too! 😀

Do yourself a favour and consult a proper Dermatologist before you go for any creams, at all. Hydroquinone and tretinoin are powerful drugs and should never be used without medical supervision.

Hey sharmishtha, we are sisters in the problem and I have been undergoing treatment for hyperpigmentation for over a year now. First allopathy for close to a year and now homeopathy for the last 4 months. Homeopathy works!! Melasma and LPP are pretty difficult to treat and they spread very fast. I would seriously recco homeopathy and use natural products locally. Try the vit c serum recipie that I have contributed on IMBB :)) just hang in there… it’s a long battle !!!

I know I’m late.. But the best solution I have found for pigmented lips is sugar. Mix sugar with water. Scrub lips gently and leave it on overnight. You will have soft, moisturised lips the next day. The color will also improve with prolonged use. Applying a paste of coriander/cilantro leaves also helps.
