Treatments For Hair Loss: Ask IMBB

Ask IMBB Gang

Ravali Asks

The problem with me is that I have been suffering from a lot of hair fall lately. It is mainly because of all the stress that I face at work and college. I want you all to suggest me a good shampoo/conditioner that helps to reduce hair fall. I do not have much of dandruff and my scalp is oily and also if there are any good treatments that work for reducing hair fall anywhere in the salons, then please do suggest me those. Every time I shampoo and comb, I lose a lot of hair which makes me very upset. Is there any way for the lost hair to re-grow? ( other than hair transplantation)

Thanks in advance.

  1. I faced the same when I moved to Pune, first of all stop taking stress, it worsens the condition and have Protein rich diet. if you have oily scalp, try to keep it clean. try washing hair every alternate day with a baby shampoo. In salons, They have a Loreal treatement, will check and let you know the name

  2. Some tips that you might already know.

Do not oil your scalp if you have an oily scalp. But always oil your hair before shampooing them.

Use a mild shampoo like Pantene and wash atleast thrice a week

Make sure you rinse your hair very well by dipping them in the bucket!

Take good care of hair internally as Ila suggested.

        1. Hehehe long back when I use to use bucket and have nice hair I use to do it too πŸ˜› πŸ˜› I use to love the thanda thanda sensation so much! Now no bucket, only shower..

        1. Somreeta, Its not good for Oily scalp, its very moisturizing, however it reduces hairfall to an extent πŸ™‚

  3. I know what you are going through as I faced similar situation few years back..first stop taking stress..i know its easy to say but stress causes overall health impact including skin, eyes and hair..also try to maintain healthy lifestyle and drink loads of water.
Now coming to reducing hairfall..no shampoos or conditioner will help in reducing hair fall..apply mintop hairfall solution everyday for 1 to 2 months..i have been using it on n off for more than 5 years now n this really helps in reducing hairfall..i’ll review it soon here.. its water like solution n you just need to take 2 ml and apply it directly on scalp..it dries off fast so it will not make your hair or scalp oily.
apply a good hair oil..personally I would recommend using Cantharidine hair oil review here – https://makeupandbeauty.com/cantharidine-hair-oil-review/ its the best i have come across and reduces hairfall and initiates regrowth when used over a period of time..pls dont expect miracles but using it 2 weekly over 3 months should definitely improve your hair πŸ™‚
Also try n visit a dermatologist as sometimes the problem may be within the body..are you sure your iron n calcium is in check? lastly get a good nights sleep..everyday for minimum 7 hours!
also include nuts in your diet like almonds n walnut..very beneficial for hair n skin..you can also request your derma to give you some medications for your hair like iron or vitamin tablets..
hope this helps πŸ™‚ n dont worry too much:)

  4. Hey Ravali,
I faced this problem recently and before you go in for any treatment do check the root cause for hair fall, which can be something like the climatic change, change in water, dandruff, stress, change in hair care routine or products.

If you feel everything is normal then I suggest you to take some hair spa treatment meant for hair fall [I took the sp hair fall treatment] in good renowned salons. It has helped me a lot and reduced hair fall significantly.

Also use this Wella Energy Serum, which helped me a loooooooot.

  5. For reducing hair loss, switch to a shampoo that is SLS free. I find that this helps a lot. For better hair growth, try finding a vitamin supplement that is made for hair nails and skin, which will improve you internally. Another age-old method is curry leaves (karipatta). Get a whole bunch of leaves, dry roast and grind with a bit of urad dal, methi, salt, tamarind, and dried red chilli. Eat this a bit everyday with rice and oil. Also can be used in stuffing paratha. Curry leaves are supposed to be beneficial in hair growth.

  7. 1. I have used egg mask on my hair 30 minutes before shampooing –
-Since you have hairfall, dont apply oil directly as it will soften the hair root.
    – Mix 1 egg + little hair oil of your preference + some gulabjal to mask the smell of hair. instead of gulab jal you can add anything else you like like some essential oil which is good for hair.
    – Apply this mask to you hair esp to roots and keep for 30 minutes.
-Shampoo your hair. You can use conditioner if you feel hair isnt smooth after rinsing the shampoo.
I used this like twice a week. One on sunday and on weekday like wednesday. Believe me my hairfall reduced from the first wash itself.

  8. Ravali……..if you want immediate results, you should probably see a trichologist or dermatologist who can evaluate you and prescribe you the correct supplements like iron, zinc, and vitamins to rectify. I don;t know whether I should be telling, but there are drugs with minoxidine like mintop which doctors usually prescribe in case of mild alopecia, but it should be strictly taken under a doctor;s guidance and not over the counter

    1. thanks Jomol…I should maybe try visiting a dermatologist now..i have heard of minoxidine too but dint want to take it without any guidance..

  9. Few more tips-
    1. Use cold water only for hair. The colder the water the better for hair. Depends on how cold the water you can jhelofy. πŸ™‚ Rinse thoroughly, ALWAYS!
    2. Never comb wet hair how much ever wide toothed comb you use. Let it air dry and when it is 80% dry, you can use wide toothed comb to detangle. No fast fan, no dryer.
    3. dont rub any portion of your hair with towel. Just gentle wrap to absorb the exrta water to avoid dripping on your back/shoulders.
    4. Make sure you hair scrunchies, clips, etc are not too tight as they might be pull hair from roots.

      1. You are welcome Ravali.
Although I too agree with others that you visit a derma to strike off any possible hormonal imbalance causing harifall and also include good amount of protein in your diet.
Eggs, chicken, sprouts, dal, tofu, paneer, milk, curd, buttermilk, nuts, etc.

  10. you shud include sprouts in ur diet like soyabean pulses grams ground nuts soaked in watr.. it has loads f protein which strengthen ur roots frm inside n has fibres also.. use extra virgin oils if u planning to use one… for new hair to grow i’ll tel u a funny named product which worked for me ‘Kesh King’ from SBS Biotech u can visit their site… last yr i had hairfall due to triphala se allergy. n i tried it.. my scalp was visible but using this had solved my problem sooner than expected… available at most of medical n general stores.

  11. Massage hair with dhadhri hair oil before shampoo.. removes dandruff and stops hairfall.. take supplements under doc’s advice….

      1. Ravali, go for v-care’s shikkakai paste.. my sil who had hair loss after using matrix shampoos has started using this paste as shampoo.. now she says her hair loss is getting reduced.. v-care has got hair growth vitalizer (oil) too..

  12. um sufferng frm the same prob Ravali…for the past 3 yrs!!!!!!!!!nthing seems to help. my locks r reduced to 1/3rd f what it used to be…my scalp s oily too! πŸ™ hav tried everything from readymade prodcts, derma, home remedies and medicated stuff πŸ™ any oil-base is a strict no no!!!!!!!!!

    1. hi somreeta , try biotin supplements will help (5 mg to 10 mg )… mines also reduced to 1/3rd or 1/4th – Atleast hairfall have stopped ..i also use shampoo which is parabean, silcon free…Take Care

god knows when i’ll regain hair volume now . Anyone any clue to regain hair volume ..plz lemme know . Thx

  13. Dabur Vatika root strengthening (almonds and coconut milk) shampoo… but it has SLS. It helped me, but then I started eating more nutritious food about the same time (I had been unwell and wasn’t eating properly) so that may have been a factor.

  14. I used L’oreal hair fall shampoo and conditioner…it worked for me to some extent… πŸ™‚

Also try the onion hair mask…juice 1 onion and mix 2 ts of extra virgin olive oil ( 2 ts honey its optional bt helps to reduce the onion smell ) apply it on the entire hair and keep it for half an hour then rinse with mild shampoo followed by conditioner…it helps to reduce the hair fall as well promotes hair growth..

  15. Include more protein, multivitamins and water in ur diet. The so-called anti-hairfall shampoos and condtitioners prevent only hairfall from breakage, not from the roots and they do so by coating hair strands with silicone so that it till be easier to comb. Some of them have arginine which supposedly helps with hairfall. Never apply oil to roots if u have oily scalp and if hair falls after oil application. Find a mild shampoo for oily hair. U can apply a bit of lemon on scalp before shampoo cause that will take care of the oiliness and keep scalp fresh. It also supplies some nutrition to roots. If you can apply oil try virgin coconut oil, not the ordinary coconut one. Its best to apply pure virgin coc oil than any store bought hair oil concotion as your hair is fragile now. Just pat with fingertips leave for half an hour n wash with mild shampoo. Trichup shampoo is mild but it has ALS. Keep the routine simple and easy to follow. No vigorous brushing or combing or heat or rollers. πŸ™‚ Dont worry hair grows back…

  16. Hello..

Any recommendations for dermatologists in Pune…by reading all the comments…. i think the first thing to do..is visit the doc!

    Please let me know…

    1. Biotin strengthens hair and nails..so taking Biotin supplements 5-10 mg everyday helps…depending on results u can continue or discontinue.
