Tree Hut Detoxifying Fig and Olive Mediterranean Salt Scrub Review

Hello all,

I love to try out new body scrubs all the time.  Recently, I had picked up a scrub from Tree Hut – Tree Hut Detoxifying Mediterranean Salt Scrub Fig and Olive. I have been using sugar scrubs for a while and hence thought that a salt scrub will be a nice alternative. Plus the ingredients sounded pretty exotic. Read out to find out how the scrub fared.

My Experience with Tree Hut Detoxifying Fig and Olive Mediterranean Salt Scrub:

Packaging:  This scrub comes in a huge plastic tub with a screw-on cap. The tub is transparent and that helps in knowing how much product is still left. The tub is too bulky and not exactly travel friendly. I personally do not like tub designs because you need to dip in your fingers or a spatula to scoop the product out. I much prefer a tube packaging for a scrub.

Texture/Fragrance/Performance:  Okay, so I have to admit that when I first looked at the scrub in the tub, it reminded me of liquid cement and I was so apprehensive to put it on my body 😛 But, that dirty blackish grey color is due to the presence of activated charcoal which is supposed to work wonders for your skin. The scrub contains a lot of other ingredients like Mediterranean Sea Salt, Olive oil, Almond oil, Macadamia Seed oil, Shea butter and Fig extract which are also so good for your skin plus it does not contain parabens. A truly impressive list of ingredients there!

The scrub has a medium thick consistency and is not too runny. It spreads easily on the skin, but it does not lather much. The sea salt crystals are very tiny and do not feel abrasive on the skin at all. After using sugar scrubs which have larger exfoliating particles, I was a bit skeptical about the exfoliating power of the sea salt crystals. But all my doubts were laid to rest after using this scrub for a while. It exfoliates very well and leaves your skin absolutely clean and smooth. I just love how the scrub makes the skin so much softer and smoother. It hydrates the skin and sometimes I don’t even apply a lotion afterwards.

Now coming to the not so good part – the fragrance. I personally did not like the fragrance. It smells too strongly of figs and I do not like to have that kind of smell on my body, but this is completely a matter of personal choice. The fragrance lingers on the body for about 2 hours or so before fading away.

To summarize, this is an absolutely wonderful body scrub with some really good organic ingredients. Personally, the fragrance was a bit of a dampener for me.

  1. I still rely on sugar scrubs for my body…but would have definitely tried this one has the availability not been an issue.
