TRESemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo Review

I typically take a long time to shampoo my hair and even longer to dry them. So, when we went on a week-long vacation last December, I decided to carry along a can of dry shampoo. I had not used dry shampoos until then, but was curious after reading so many reviews on IMBB.  I was looking for a travel-sized can and my local supermarket only had the TRESemme dry shampoo in a travel-sized version. Since TRESemme is a fairly known brand for hair care, I decided to give it a try. Read on further to find out about the TRESemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo for fine/oily hair.

My Experience with TRESemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo:

To begin with, a little bit about my hair texture – I have an oily scalp; my hair is not overtly oily, but it tends to get oilier after 3-4 days of shampooing.  When I used this product for the first time, my hair was unwashed for 3 days and also pretty dirty and greasy due to all the sight-seeing in the hot sun. I noticed that this dry shampoo did absorb some of the oil, but it did not really give me that clean and refreshed feeling that washing my hair gives. Plus, my hair still felt a bit flat and I could not leave my hair open. No wonder, I switched to traditional shampooing on the vacation.

However, I decided to give this shampoo one more try after I returned home. This time around, my hair was oily but not very dirty, and the shampoo performed much better. My hair looked clean and fresh. It also gave an impression of more volume. I was impressed for sure.

I did not notice any aggravated hair fall due to using this shampoo nor did my scalp feel itchy or irritated. A word of caution – you need to get a hang of how much product to spray. Otherwise, it leaves behind whitish streaks/residue in your hair which is pretty unsightly and also difficult to brush off.

This dry shampoo comes in an aerosol can with a plastic cap. The packaging is sleek and also travel friendly.  However, I noticed that the spray nozzle gets clogged quite often. I have to clean the nozzle with warm water to keep it clean. Not the most convenient thing to do!

The shampoo has a mild refreshing citrus smell. The smell is not overpowering at all. It lingers in the hair for 2-3 hours after applying.

To summarize, I like that the shampoo can come in handy when you cannot wash your hair and it does give an impression of clean nice-smelling hair. However, personally, I am still a fan of traditional washing/shampooing and use this dry shampoo only in cases of real emergency!

• Leaves behind a whitish residue if too much quantity is sprayed.
• Will not work if your hair is too dirty or greasy.
• Spray nozzle gets clogged quite often.

I much prefer traditional shampooing and resort to dry shampoo only in case of real emergencies. I might not repurchase and would like to try out dry shampoos from other brands.
