A Trip to Jaipur, The Pink City

A Trip to The Pink City, Jaipur

Last year on Holi we went to Jaipur. I suppose this was my 4th or 5th visit to the place but I happened to carry a digital camera this time so thought of sharing my experience with you guys. The place is typical India. The zest of Indian culture can be seen and felt in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The dresses, the food all are so different there. The city is full of traditional festivals, monuments and let me tell you loads of temples.

I visited a few of the historical places there in Jaipur such as

Amber Fort

The Amber Fort is Located on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, 11 km from Jaipur. It was built by Raja Man Singh I in 1592. The fort has got wonderful carvings and minute mirror work. The shooting of movie Jodha Akhbar was done in this fort only, so guys you already have seen this magnificent fort on screen.

Jaigarh Fort

Jaigarh Fort is located on the top of the hill, by the name of Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles). Jaigarh Fort is also known as the ‘Victory Fort’, located at a comfortable distance of 15kms from Jaipur. The highlight of this Fort is the massive cannon by the name of Jaivan, which was made in the same production house. Jaivan, the cannon, is believed to be the largest cannon in the World and the main attraction of the Jaigarh Fort. There are all sorts of old weapons on display in this fort. Here is a pic of the cannon “Jaivan”.

Hawa Mahal

The most famous palace of jaipur is the Hawa Mahal. The palace has loads of windows, thats why called Hawa Mahal. Even in the scotching heat of Jaipur, you won’t feel warm inside this palace. Its so airy inside.

You all might have heard of the puppet dance. Believe me its awesome, you all will surely love the cute puppets dancing and acting. When I was a kid, I felt so in love with them, I even bought two puppets for home. I even recorded the puppet dance…

Elephant Festival

We went to this festival there, the elephant festival. There were so many elephants there and were looking so beautiful and colourful. The festival depicts all sorts of Rajasthani traditions, as to how the “baraat” goes, etc. Here is a picture of the bride on elephant.
