After purchasing some single eyeshades from MUA, I am trying out the Essence Mono Eyeshadows now. And I totally love them, more than the MUA ones! These shadows come at just half the price of MUA. Now let’s get straight to the review.
Product Details: Electrified eyes… the popular mono eyeshadows ensure color highlights on your eyelids and are sure to give all girls that extra-special touch.
Price: INR 199 for 2.5 gms.
Packaging: These cute eyeshadows come in a mini sized round container; the whole container is completely transparent and the shadow sits in a steel pan inside it. The cap closes with a click sound and ensures that it is tightly closed. The large fonts of the brand name really add to the packaging. Overall, the packaging justifies the price and is simple, cute and sturdy.
My Take on Essence Mono Eyeshadow in Copper Island:
Shade: Copper Island is an elegant Copperish-Gold shimmery shade. The color has just the right amount of warm tone to it and is not very metallic. The shade is suitable for every day wear, to offices and colleges, as it is a very nice neutral warm color and an apt shade for chilly winters.
Texture, Pigmentation & Finish: The texture of the eyeshadow is smooth and slightly velvety. Although it is not super creamy, it’s nonetheless easily blendable. It applies easily on eyes using a brush or fingers. The texture is such that, the brush can pick the color easily and can be applied in single swipe for good color intensity. The shadow is decently pigmented, 1 sweep of the shadow will give full color on eyes and it is very buildable. There is no caking or creasing of the Eyeshadow on the eyes and it doesn’t fall out during application. The finish of the shadow is neither extremely metallic, shimmery nor matte. It just has the right amount of velvety touch to it.
Staying Power: The shadows lasts well with or without a primer, I generally test eyeshadows without a primer and the wearing time for this shade without primer was up to 5 to 6 hrs easily, with no fading or creasing. It started fading slowly after 5 hrs. It’ll surely last longer with a primer underneath.
Pros of Essence Mono Eyeshadow in Copper Island:
- Nice golden coppery shade, which is not too metallic or extremely shimmery.
- Suitable for every skin tone, the color has just the right amount of warmth to it, which makes it a very wearable shade for every day.
- The texture is smooth, velvety and easily blendable.

- Pigmentation of the shade is good to buildable, but color pay-off in a single swipe is good.
- It can be easily picked up with brushes and also prevents fall out.
- Wide variety of shades ranging from neutral to colorful.
- Staying power is great for 5+ hours, that too without a primer.
Cons of Essence Mono Eyeshadow in Copper Island:
- Some may find the packaging too flimsy, but I am okay with it.
- As mentioned in the ingredient list, the shadows contains parabens.
Will I Recommend Essence Mono Eyeshadow in Copper Island?
Yes, I think all of you should pick a couple of these single shadows. The shadows are worth a try. They are so affordable and easily available online. You’re gonna pick this for sure if you’re an office or college going person like me.
Will I Re-purchase Essence Mono Eyeshadow in Copper Island?
The shadows are a bargain and I’ll surely buy the other shades also. And for a subtle, neutral coppery shade, I’ll really opt for this one.
