Ulta Extreme Wear Gel Eyeliner – Primetime Review
Lately, I have been trying to post reviews of products that are pretty different from each other, so today I come with the review of a gel eyeliner that I have been using currently. It’s the Ulta Extreme Wear Gel Eyeliner in the shade Primetime, which is a dark black. I guess I mentioned about hoarding waterproof eye makeup products recently, and this is one of them. I have become very fond of gel liners after using the Maybelline Eye Studio version, but since I had the swirl one, I needed one that was pure black, and this seemed to be it.
Creamy gel formula applies smoothly with eye liner brush and designed to last all day and night!
$10 for 3 gm or 0.11 oz, but I got it for $4 when it was on sale!! (I love sales!)
Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Polyethylene, Barium Sulfate, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Phenyl Trimethicone, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Phenoxyethanol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, BHT. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Chromium Oxide Greens, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Ultramarines.
It comes in a cute little glass pot with a metal cap which goes on tightly. It is bigger when compared to the Maybelline pot, but the quantity is the same for both. The mouth of the pot is wide, and it is easy to use a brush in it. Overall, I quite like the packaging and I usually keep it upside down (I had read somewhere that it increases the life of the product).
My Take on Ulta Extreme Wear Gel Eyeliner – Primetime:
Coming to my experience, I was on the lookout for a good black eyeliner, and when I found such a good deal on this, I definitely couldn’t pass it up! In fact I would suggest to others also to wait for deals and sales, Ulta has a lot of them, and you can get amazing products at even better rates. Anyway, as you can see, I have used this eyeliner quite a few times, and now it has become my go-to eyeliner. The best thing about this product is that it goes on very smooth and stays on for really long. I have very oily eyelids, and on my eyes, it easily wears for about 7-8 hours without creasing, smudging, or giving me raccoon eyes. Also, even though it doesn’t mention anywhere that it’s waterproof or water-resistant, it actually is. I tried to remove it with water, and it doesn’t unless you smudge really hard. The one downside I can think of is that it is not sold with a brush, so you would need to buy one to use it. I generally use ELF Studio brushes which are pretty good quality for their price (the “precision brush” if anyone wants to know), so I have no problem in that regard.
As to the shade “Primetime” it is dark black, and although you can see slight shimmer in the pot when you are using the brush, it is not visible when you apply it to your lids, so it appears pretty much matte, which is the way I like it. You need to go over about twice to get the desired pigmentation; it doesn’t come off as very black the first time. It comes off easily with a waterproof makeup remover. I haven’t used any high-end gel liners, so I can’t compare with them, but personally I liked it almost equally or a little better than (because of the color) the Maybelline one. Also, there are 5 other shades you can choose from.
Pros of Ulta Extreme Wear Gel Eyeliner – Primetime:
- Goes on very smoothly.
- Stays on for a very long time.
- Does not smudge or crease.
- It is waterproof.
- The color is a nice matte black.
- Available in many shades.
- Very great for the price!
- Not tested on animals.
Cons of Ulta Extreme Wear Gel Eyeliner – Primetime:
- Need to apply twice for color to show properly.
- Have to reapply when it starts to fade around 6 hours.
- Not available in India.
Overall, it is a very nice product, and I find myself reaching for it more and more. I would definitely recommend it to others. As for myself, I can see myself repurchasing it if I don’t find something better!

I was amazed how good their products were, and so inexpensive! Why don’t we get it in India *cry* *cry*
Dis is sad,gel liners don’t fade I guess *headbang*
I’m judging it by my really oily eyelids I guess that’s why. Even my Maybelline one fades so I didn’t find it very surprising! *haanji*
*preen* i liked it..
