Hello beautiful.. 🙂
How are you doing today? I am dreaming of my vacation trips and have already started with the packing. Off late, I started shopping for hand & nail care/grooming products and while I was looking for them, I came across this ULTA Nail Polish Remover, which comes in a sleek small travel size packaging and has a fascinating description. Well, I remember stealing acetone from our labs and using it as a nail polish remover back during college times, when we never bothered how it made our nails look white and pale, leaving a white cast on nails. Thankfully, now we know that’s a mistake and since then I have been skeptical about removers that have acetone as an ingredient.
However, there is lot of difference between using highly concentrated acetone directly on skin, over using just a percentage of it, as we can see in formulations of various acetone-alcohol formulated products. I am quite happy with ULTA Regular Nail Polish Remover for the same reasons. Let’s see how it fared for me.. 🙂
Price: $1.49 for 2 Fl Oz, exclusively on ULTA
Product Description: Use ULTA’s Regular Nail Polish Remover for Dry or Brittle Nails. Formulated to help add strength and resiliency for beautiful nails.
Packaging: This nail polish remover comes in sturdy and opaque plastic bottle packaging, with a wide opening and a tight fitting cap, nothing fancy, but it smells quite good, unlike other acetone/alcohol smelling products. I can still smell alcohol, but it is very faint and usually the sweet musky smell overpowers that nauseating smell. I feel such volatile products need narrow open packaging, apart from safety lock caps. It is not a safe and good idea to carry this volatile stuff on long travel journeys, especially on flights. Anyway, we have nail polish remover wipes and pads for that, right?
My Experience with ULTA Regular Nail Polish Remover:
This nail polish remover actually surprised me with its mild texture on my skin while acting tough on stains. The colorless nail polish remover is quite volatile and disappears within seconds of exposure to air, leaving behind a cool sensation, but it lasts longer on cotton pads/ balls and hence proves to be effective and tough on stains. I just need a drop or two on cotton, as it swiftly removes even the toughest metallic, creamy and glittery stains of my nails, without compromising on the natural sheen and finish of my nails. I am also impressed to see that I only need 2-3 drops and single cotton ball/pad to remove stains off my feet and hands completely.
Moreover, like any high end product it smells great unlike the other nauseating nail polish removers. Oh yes, I love it for its sweet scent and final finish on my nails, post application. I can see my nails does not look white or patchy anymore and it removes every single trace of stain from my nails with no extra effort of rubbing it on nails again and again, which certainly makes it a keeper for everyone.
Needless to say, it does live up to its claims to great extent. I feel it is best for every nail care and grooming junkie, who wishes to pamper her nails, apart from enjoying effortless nail color removal sessions with such ease. I feel this can be used every week as it is a mild product as compared to nail polish removers from other brands. I have no idea how it fairs on gel or full on glittery nail polishes, since I do not use such nail paints. But other than that it is a must – must try product.
Pros of ULTA Regular Nail Polish Remover:
- A mild yet effective nail polish remover for dry brittle nails
- It is really tough on stains without being harsh on nails
- It does not leave any nasty white patches on nails, even with presence of acetone in its formulation
- It does not have any nauseating smell, in fact it leaves a sweet mild fragrance post application, which lingers on for a few minutes
- It removes all metallic, shimmery stains completely in just 1-2 gentle strokes
- Even a tiny bottle will last for a year irrespective of using it once or twice a week
- A one or two drop of remover is enough to remove every trace off nail polish from both hands and feet
- It does not give any tingling or irritating sensation just a cool sensation which hardly lasts a second
Cons of ULTA Regular Nail Polish Remover:
- The packaging should include a tight sealed narrow opening apart from the cap to make it spill-proof
- I don’t think its current packaging is suitable for travelling purposes
IMBB Rating: 4.1/ 5.
Would I Recommend/ Re-purchase ULTA Regular Nail Polish Remover?
Well apart from its packaging I don’t have any issues with the product, though I am bit discouraged to keep it in my check in luggage for its clumsy cap and no extra seal to avoid accidental spillage especially on flights. Even my usual semi-liquid products tend to leak up on air due to high air pressure and hence we can imagine how this volatile liquid will disappear during air travel. Moreover, I can see ULTA has several nail remover variants and I am tempted to try each and every variant before I get this particular product again. Hence I might pick its non-acetone or express product next time, but that does not mean this nail polish remover is a skip for.
