Here is a review of thumb sized lip gloss I recently purchased from Ulta. It is from the shimmer range by the house brand and was on sale when I bought it.

My Experience with Ulta Sweet and Shimmer Lip Gloss:

I love the packaging of the product. It comes in a cute candy bullet packaging with a doe foot applicator. Product comes packed in the clear plastic compartment through which one can see the hot pink shade of the gloss and has a screw cap with metallic sheen. The doe foot applicator provided is puny, but ideal for lip gloss application. In one dip it picks up decent amount of product.

The product has a very thick, creamy consistency and on single swipe it leaves a very mild shimmer and creates a faint cast of pink. But, on multiple sweeps, one can achieve the desired color intensity. However, this gloss is not very pigmented. So, it might not cover lip pigmentation completely, but then again lip gloss are meant more for sheen rather than pigmentation and this job does a fine job in providing shine and shimmer.

Even though the texture of the product is little thick, it forms a very thin, high shine layer in lips. Some people might be sceptic about hot pink on dusky complexion, but mark my word that this shade is very subtle, innocent pink and at the same time very conspicuous and doesn’t look gaudy or flashy, as per the popular, ridiculously wrong belief.

The gloss stays put for 2-3 hours or more as per one’s lips and activities such as drinking or eating. But, I tend to reapply it after every few hours and I bet most of us are in the habit of doing so. One can increase the staying power by using it on top of a long stay lipstick or lip liner.

• Not very pigmented.
