Ultimate Green Smoothie for Weight Loss: Do-it-Yourself

Since April began, I vowed to eat healthy food. I know this is one of the toughest tasks but nothing’s impossible right? Breakfast plays an important role in one’s diet, however in the fast life of today’s world, we all tend to miss breakfast. So I decided to kick start my day with a super nutritious green smoothie! Green smoothies are packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber and nutrition! The best thing about green smoothies is that they are low in calorie content but still they will fill you for a long time and provide tons of benefits at the same time. However most green smoothies I see on the internet consist of ingredients like avocado, berries, asparagus etc. which are not easily and widely available in India. Hence, today I will share with you a green smoothie, that contains ingredients that are cheap, and widely available all year round in India. Let’s see what do we need.

You will need:

– Handful of spinach
– An apple
– A banana
– Half cucumber
– Half carrot
– Small piece of ginger
– Hangul of grapes
– Orange
– ½ cup water
– Blender

Step 1-Collect all your ingredients and wash the fruits and vegetables very well. Make sure to peel fruits like apple and banana. Also peel the cucumber, carrot and ginger.

Step 2– Add ½ cup of water in the blender and add the spinach. Now squeeze the juice of one orange in the blender. Please don’t add the juices available in the market. In case you don’t have an orange handy, you can skip this.

Step 3- Chop all vegetables and fruits in small pieces and add to the blender. You can also add some ice cubes in this step.

Step 4- Blend everything together for 2 minutes, or until everything has properly blended.

Step 5– Pour the juice in a glass and enjoy! This recipe makes 2 glasses of smoothie, you can share it with someone, or just keep it in the fridge and have it the next day.

Benefits of the ingredients used in the Green Smoothie:

Spinach– Spinach contains iron, folate, magnesium, antioxidants and calcium. One cup of spinach contains only 7 calories! It is found that taking spinach reduces intake of calories throughout the day.

Apple- The benefits of Apple are not unknown! They have tons of antioxidants and vitamins. Apples help prevent a ton of disease like cancer, diarrhoea and help in getting a healthier heart and stronger immune system. With few calories, they can fill you up for a long time.

Banana– High in energy content, bananas also have antioxidants, potassium , protein, manganese, dietary fibre and help cure a tons of digestion problems.

Ginger– Ginger helps cure cold, nausea and has tons of anti-viral properties. Apart from these, ginger also helps in increasing blood flow and acts as a natural appetite suppressant which is the best way to lose weight. It is also said to be calorie free and boosts metabolism.

Cucumber– Cucumber has huge number of benefits like it helps to keep you hydrated and fights heat inside your body. It helps to flush out toxins and aids weight loss. It also supplies minerals to your body.

Carrot– High in vitamin A, carrots have high nutrition content which help you get a beautiful skin and slows down anti ageing. It also helps you get a better vision and prevents cancer and heart diseases.

Grapes– Grapes are loaded with phytochemicals and phytonutrients which posses antioxidant properties. They are high in vitamin C and provide protection against sunburns and rejuvenate your skin.

Orange Juice- High in vitamin C, orange provides a boost to your skin and reduces inflammation and balances blood pressure. It also promotes the production of hemoglobin.

Here are some questions that you may have, which I am answering.

What if I don’t have any one of these ingredients?

It’s totally okay if you are out of any of these ingredients. You can make the smoothie without it. However, base ingredients like spinach, Apple, banana etc. should be present for sure. You can skip grapes, orange juice, carrots and ginger if you are out of them. But for maximum nutrition, I suggest you to add all of them, as every ingredient has its unique benefits.

Can I add something else as well?

Yes for sure! My suggestions would be mint leaves, pineapple, pear and some lemon juice! In case you want to add in berries,  lower down the amount of rest of the fruits. You can also add flax seeds. Add in whatever you wish to your green smoothie.

What should I not add to my green smoothie?

Avoid adding any dairy products, artificial fruit juices and sweeteners. The fruits we have added in already provide a ton of sweetness, so avoid anything to add taste.

What does this taste like?

Delicious! Believe me! I personally didn’t even like eating palak paneer, however, I have no problem in drinking this smoothie. You can mainly taste apple and banana. The taste of spinach won’t bother at all.

This smoothie is packed with tons of benefits, vitamins and minerals. This will help you get a glowing skin and also boost your immune system. Remember your skin reflects what you put in your body. This smoothie will fill you up for a long time, hence you won’t crave foods with high calorie content for a long time. It takes you 5 minutes to make this, you why not treat your body every single day? I have challenged myself to drink this smoothie every single day for one month.     I drink juice everyday with apple carrot beetroot strawberries from now will add spinach n other ingredients as u suggested n see !!!
