Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Naked Review

Hey guys,

Today, I will be reviewing one of Urban Decay’s Naked blush palettes. Yes, yes, Urban Decay has followed up their phenomenally successful eye palettes with two blush palettes. Today, I will be reviewing their blush palette in Naked (the other one is “Native”). Does the blush palette live up to the hype of the eye palettes? Well read on to find out!

Product Description:

With this product Urban Decay, with its signature heavy-handed innuendo, tells you to “go ahead [and] get naked and flushed with our silky bronzer, highlighter and blush. Then bask in the radiant glow and let people wonder what you’ve been up to.” They describe the three products as “a hot little threesome – a silky bronzer, highlighter and blush in a sleek, travel-ready compact.”

They also tell us to “use these silky pressed powders individually or blend them together to create just the right effect – and let this seemingly straight-laced trio morph into a tangled color love fest. Then bask in the radiant glow and let people wonder what you’ve been up to.”

My Experience with Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Naked:

I love palettes; they make life so easy! Instead of lugging around a bunch of little containers, you get most, if not everything, you need in one place. After some terrible luck with creating my own DIY palette’s, and wasting a whole lot of product on these bad experiments, I decided I was better off buying them. I love my Naked 2 palette and I am this close to buying the third, and when I heard they have two blushes, I just had to get it (thanks to IMBB, I did!). Three products for the price of one? Makeup win!

This product comes with a bronzer, highlighter and blush – all of which, according to the folks at Urban Decay, can be used to create a natural glow. I liked that nothing looked particularly “scary” in the palette; in fact, they all looked like colors that would look lovely on me. A little bit about my skin tone before I get started, I am an NC40 in MAC for most of the year. I do tend to buy foundations that are a little darker on me (I’m one of those people who prefer looking healthily tanned 😛 ). Also, I have combination skin, acne-prone skin, which is dry in some places and super oily in others. I was most drawn to the rosy-pink blush and knew instantly that it would be my favorite of all three. In the pan, the color has a little bit of shimmer on it, however, that doesn’t transfer on to the skin and the finish is pretty matte. The blush is buildable and the swatches you see are with a light hand. I wanted to keep it closest to how I apply the blush, using a heavier hand or layering it on will result in a deeper, almost reddish-pink shade.

The highlighter is a super shimmery champagne color with a slight peachy-pink hue to it – I’m guessing to impart a healthy glow. I prefer gold toned highlighters because they work better with my warm skin tone, but was still pretty impressed with this color on this one. The texture however didn’t impress me as much. As you can see in swatches, the texture of these three products isn’t the smoothest and the highlighter actually has the worst texture of the three.  The best things about the Naked palette eyeshadows is that they are super-duper buttery smooth. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the blush palette. The bronzer, which I’ll address next, is the smoothest, followed by the blush. The texture of these two doesn’t really affect application as much, they go on pretty even. With the highlighter, on the other hand, I have to blend quite a bit to get a smooth, even finish. That said, I do love the glow this imparts to my skin and I think the color works really well in combination with the blush and bronzer.

Now on to the bronzer! So this bronzer, as you can see, is more orange and less bronze. Frankly, I didn’t notice that in the pan. When I saw it in the pan, I was like okay, here’s a light bronzer that looks like it will work on me, but frankly, over do this and you’ll soon be in oompa loompa territory. For me, this works best for light contouring around my nose, face and cheeks. I have worn it on my cheeks as a blush, with the highlighter on top and it makes me look really healthy and fresh as long as I don’t use a heavy hand for application.

Things like best about the palette are undoubtedly the color of the blush, how each of its components come together so well and how long it lasts. On me the blush and bronzer last all day long, the highlighter seems to disappear after around 4 hours, but the other two last and last. I was pretty amazed by this, because I didn’t buy this thinking it will be something that won’t need touch ups. Now, this could partially be because of the foundations I have been using lately, UD’s Naked Skin and Dior’s Airflash, but I am pleasantly surprised that I don’t need touch ups through the day.  I am so confident this will last me through the day, I don’t even carry the compact to work.

Overall, I do like this palette. The texture of the highlighter is slightly off-putting, but not a major drawback in my opinion. Also, the bronzer isn’t one I would instantly gravitate to, but I like that it’s just dark enough for me to use it for light contouring or to give my cheeks a healthy glow. If you’re deeper toned than NC44, it might not show up on your skin though – something to keep in mind.I love the blush. It’s super pigmented and is a color that will flatter all desi skin tones. If you’re on the lighter end of the spectrum use a very light hand and if you’re on the deeper end, this will not disappoint as it actually shows up!
