Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Nail Color – Mrs. Mia Wallace Review

Hello gals,

How are you doing today? I am pretty excited to share my first Urban Decay nail paint which is inspired by the famous character Mrs. Mia Wallace from the movie “Pulp Fiction.” So, any Pulp Fiction and Mia Wallace fans here? Then, this nail polish is for you 😛 Honestly, I haven’t seen the movie plus I am not her fan, but I researched and watched that movie after getting tempted from this “Pulp Fiction” range of Urban Decay 😛 My hubby bought it as a surprise gift along with one more shade from their “Revolution” range some time back from a designer cosmetic store courtesy his shopaholics colleagues.  Thanks to all of them as well! So, let’s start this review now.

Price:

$15 for 0.30 fl Oz (9 ml), price varies across designer cosmetics store and websites.

Packaging:

This blood red shimmery paint comes in a sleek glass bottle with a classy black cap with a skull on top to add that thrill and horror effect which I honestly dislike 😛 I love that “Urban Decay” embossed on the side of the brush applicator cap though. The brush is quite long with fine bristles which does the job with perfection.  Probably that’s what we call a designer UD nail polish.  Overall, it’s quite a classy, user friendly and a travel-friendly packaging as it is enclosed inside a sturdy cardboard packaging for ease of travel.

My Experience with Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Nail Color – Mrs. Mia Wallace:

Well, I am not a fan of red nail paints (though I love red lip colors), but I do love this particular gift from hubby. Mrs. Mia Wallace is a blood red creamy nail polish with fine golden shimmer (that’s not too prominent) thankfully. Actually, shimmer is more visible in the bottle than on the nails unless we closely observe them in sunlight.  Even after the presence of golden shimmer, the shade looks more creamy unlike frosted red. I love how this blood red shade enhances my natural pale skin tone with graceful youthful glow. I usually fear that colors like red, oranges, browns make my hands look much older 😛 But this shade is an ultimate bridal shade, which looks just perfect without adding years to my skin.

The texture of the nail polish is slightly runny than other nail paints that I have used.  However, it comes quite streak free on the nails with buildable color payoff in just 1-2 coats. I usually like to add a second coat to get that even, glossy and glittery finish. I love how it slathers like melted butter on nails without clumping up and does not feather much; settles down to a creamy glossy stain.

The brush is quite thin and long, which may look tricky but it does its job quite effectively. It picks up the right amount of product and helps in painting hard-to-reach areas of the nails with ease considering I have to take care of my toddler at the same time who is always running behind me to play with that silly skull on its cap 😛

The nail paint dries pretty quick within minutes and hence no messiness, it’s good especially for messy mums like me who usually paint one nail and then run with bottle to find another secure place to work on another one..:P Even its wear time came as a pleasant surprise to me as it stayed on for as long as 6-7 days on me without chipping, peeling off from corners, even after heavy duty kitchen/laundry works throughout the week, impressive, isn’t it? I would recommend this shade to every bride to-be, newbie bride and everyone else for its super gorgeous finish on nails apart from long-lasting wear time and ease of application which certainly justifies its high end price.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Nail Color – Mrs. Mia Wallace:

  • Toulene, formaldehyde and DBT free nail polish from Urban Decay inspired by the famous “Pulp Fiction” movie and its character Mrs. Mia Wallace.
  • A hot red shade with golden shimmer.
  • Does not look frosty on nails even with lots of golden shimmer.
  • In fact it enhances and lightens the tone of my hands to impart a graceful youthful glow throughout the week.
  • Not a gothic or loud color, but a pretty and subtle bridal and wearable red for every age group.
  • Gives an opaque finish in just 2 coats.
  • Truly luxurious in every sense, right from the brush to its finish on nails.
  • Effortlessly glides on the nails, settling to an even finish with glossy sheen.
  • Does not look clumped up even with multiple coats.
  • Dries pretty quickly, within minutes.
  • Wear time is quite good, almost 6-7 days on my nails without peeling or chipping a bit.
  • Even the glossy sheen manages to remain intact as long as this shade survives on my nails with that heavy-duty household work.
  • Quite classy, user friendly, and travel-friendly packaging.

Cons of Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Nail Color – Mrs. Mia Wallace:

  • The blood red shade might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
  • The quality is slightly comparable to OPI or other quality brands which retails at a lesser price and double the quantity of this UD nail polish.

Well, I agree that both the shade and quality are not unique, and we can get the same at a much lesser price in OPI and other brands, but as you all say, “the road remains same, what matters is you travel by a BMW or Maruti :P” So, I feel I would like to get it again and I would also love to check other shades for its luxurious and silky finish. I would give it 4.4/5!
