Today, I will be reviewing another item from the Urban Decay Summer 2015 collection. I had previously reviewed the Afterglow 8 hour blush in the shade “Rapture.” This review is on the Urban Decay Revolution High Color Lip gloss in the shade “Scandal.”
A high-coverage, ultra-pigmented lip gloss.
What it does:
Get audacious lip looks and lay down all the color you crave in one swipe of this highly pigmented formula. This range of must-have, cream and sparkle textures comes in show-stopping bold brights, n*des, and deep, dark shades. Urban Decay’s Pigment Infusion System™ gives each a super creamy texture for an irresistible finish. Enriched with Hilurlip™, these glosses define and hydrate lips, making them appear fuller and plumper. Each gloss is encased in a clear barrel to make the shade visible, and features an applicator that provides full coverage in one quick swipe.
What else you need to know:
Urban Decay modeled the flat, pocket-friendly profile of the Revolution Lip Gloss case after its vintage, cult-favorite lip gloss. Then they gave it gorgeous facets and a metallic gunmetal cap design that’s reminiscent of their Revolution Lipstick case.
My Experience with Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lip Gloss in Scandal:
Packaging: Comes in a sleek looking, very different tube from the regular round lip gloss tubes. This lip gloss comes in a flat compact tube which can easily fit in the tightest of jeans pocket. The shade of the gloss is clearly reflected though the tube and the cap is shiny silvery gunmetal finish with the brand logo engraved. The wand is very long and features a complete see-through tube which holds a triangle pointy ended doe-foot applicator. The applicator holds enough product for covering the entire lip in a single sheer layer. You will need to dip the wand back in to get more product for opaque coverage. The applicator is precise enough to get into corners and trace out the edge of lips easily.
Texture/Consistency/Pigmentation: This lip gloss is neither too thick nor too thin. It coats the lips completely and has very good pigmentation which can be built up in a couple of layers to give full opaque coverage.
Shade and Finish: The shade I have is “Scandal,” which is bright and almost a fuchsia pink. It does have a little bit of purple undertone which is only apparent under certain lighting. This shade is very summer appropriate and pairs well with most makeup from natural to bright and colorful. I feel all skin tones will be able to pull off this shade. The shade “Scandal” does not have any shimmer in it, but some shades in this line do contain shimmer. I am not a huge fan of shimmery lips in general, but you have more options to choose from.
The finish is shiny and glossy, but it is not the most reflective (I find the MUFE Artist Plexi Gloss in shade #209 to be much glossier and juicier in appearance). The effect of the Urban Decay gloss is still pretty but it is a bit more subtle the MUFE gloss. But never the less I still love the look it imparts.
Feel on lips: This gloss has a very minimal sticky/tacky feel which is not at all bothersome. This gloss does not go on streaky and does not accentuate fine lines on lips or dryness. It feels very comfortable on the lips. It does transfer minimally.
Staying Power: The staying power is pretty good. It stays on my lips for 4-5 hours with light snacks and drinks. You will need to reapply after a full meal. I did not notice a strong tint left behind when it faded.
Overall, yet another quality product delivered by Urban Decay. I don’t have anything bad to say about these glosses, but I do prefer MUFE plexi glosses a little bit more than these mainly because of the glossier shine and the stain it leaves, but the MUFE glosses are much more thicker than the Urban Decay glosses, hence not everyone will prefer them, that’s just my preference.
If you get any of the shade from the beautiful array of 14 colors to choose from, you will not be disappointed. I will recommend this.
