My Take on Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Manic:

Urban Decay is known for its crazy rich pigments and, well, crazier product names. Today, I will be reviewing Manic, one popular shade from their Revolution line of lipsticks. Manic is a reddish-wine shade that gives my lips full coverage in one swipe. For completely opaque coverage, I have to use two swipes of the lipstick. The color is bright, just as most Urban Decay lipsticks are. Many of their Revolution lipstick shades, although very gorgeous, swmay lack universal appeal because they are too bold. Manic, however, is a very wearable shade that will flatter light, tan and deep skin tones alike. It’s tame enough to be worn during the day to work and bright enough to be worn for a night out. It’s the kind of shade that will get you lots of compliments. How do I know? Well, I have been on the receiving end of many since I started wearing this 😛

Manic is a little less creamy than the other lipsticks that I have tried from this line, but it glides on the lips fairly easily. My favorite way to apply this lipstick is directly from the tube, as it does a great job of delivering rich, even color to my lips. As I noted above, it takes about two coats of color for me to get a fully opaque color, but for someone with lightly pigmented lips, it will take one coat. The color is super pigmented and gives great color payoff. Overall, I find the formula to be moisturizing. I have very dry lips that get drier as the day progresses and it’s not uncommon for me to reach out for my chapstick every hour or so. With this on my lips, I don’t need to do that. In fact, I don’t even prime my lips with chapstick before I put this on. It leaves my lips in a better condition than they are in when I first put this on. While I have it on, it feels very smooth and light on my lips. Even though the color is rich and opaque, the lipstick feels light!

This lipstick lasts about 5-6 hours on me, after which it starting wearing down into a gorgeous soft-wine stain that lasts all day. There’s minimal transfer onto food and drink and absolutely no feathering or bleeding. This makes this lipstick a great pick for long days at work or busy events where you don’t have time for touch ups. I haven’t worn a liner with this, and I still get a super long wear time and effortless glamour from this shade. Speaking of effortless glamour, the lipstick has tiny specks of shimmer, but when you put this on, they are so smooth you barely feel them. The result is multidimensional color that glimmers in the light. It makes the lipstick shade look so pretty and glamorous.

I recommend this shade to all women as an alternative to red lipstick. It’s equally glamorous, and provides a modern twist to a statement lip. It’s also super wearable. Whether you’re in college or a retiree, this shade is perfect for adding a little glamour into your life! The colors fades evenly down to an equally gorgeous stain, so you don’t have to worry about touch-ups throughout the day. Finally, the best part, the lipstick contains no parabens or phthalates, so you can play safely!
