Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick – Venom Review, Swatches

Hello lovely ladies,

I am back with a lipstick review. I am surprised to see that this colour hasn’t been reviewed on IMBB yet. I thought pretty much the whole line had been covered. Anyway, let’s find out about this particular shade from Urban Decay.
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick

Addictive to apply (and even more addictive to wear), this creamy formula glides on without dragging or skipping, hugs every curve and gives you a BIG laydown of color. And with shades that range from gorgeous nudes to bold brights, there’s something for everyone. Our Pigment Infusion System™ gives Revolution Lipstick its super creamy texture, insane pigmentation, superior color dispersion and extended wear. Maxi-Lip™ defines and hydrates lips while making them look plumper and fuller. And a nourishing blend of jojoba oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and shea butter keeps lips super moisturized and cushiony soft.
Outer packaging

Our luxe, custom-designed gunmetal tube (lined in dark purple) features organically shaped facets that practically beg to be touched. You’ll want to keep pulling it out of your bag—whether it’s time to reapply or not.  It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. The ingredient for each colour are slightly different and are mentioned on the box.

Packaging:  The bullet is gunmetal grey and has decent weight, which makes it feel fairly luxe. The lipstick has a normal twist-up mechanism. The bullet is round instead of the traditional shape. It comes packaged in a deep purple cardboard box, through which runs a strip of colour (ingredient list) coordinated to the color of the lipstick, so easy to identify the shade as long as you keep them in the box. Also, the strip provides a tamper-proof seal to the box. However, it’s equally easy to open the box from the bottom end (through which the seal does not run) without tampering the seal on top!

My Experience with Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick – Venom:

Color: The shade “Venom” described by UD as a “bright plum” is a deep berry shade with hints of purple and a reddish undertone.  It’s definitely a vampy shade. There is a nice luminescent sheen to it, which makes it look quite plush.

Texture:  The texture is quite lightweight, creamy and glides smoothly on the lips. The colour hugs the lips, without accentuating fine lines.  The lipstick was very comfortable on the lips and lightly hydrating while worn. The finish is satin.

Pigmentation:  The lipstick has excellent pigmentation, almost 100% color deposit in one swipe. The colour comes on so effortlessly, it’s perfect for people like me who like a bang of colour in one swipe and this is a dream come true for people like me who love bold shades!

Lasting Power:  This lipstick lasts good 6-6.5 hours+ post which there is a distinct stain. The intensity of the colour does go down with wear, however, it pretty much stays put through meals and drinks. My only gripe with this would be the round shape of the bullet, which can get a bit tricky on the curves of your lips.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick – Venom:

  • A bold vampy berry purple shade!
  • Sculpts the lips with insane pigmentation.
  • Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
  • Color lasts for 6-6.5 hours plus.
  • Feels hydrating.
  • The color hugs the lips nicely – no feathering or bleeding.
  • Hides lip pigmentation well.
  • Luxe and classy feel of the case!
  • Free from fragrance.
  • Free from parabens.

Cons of Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick – Venom:

  • Ease of availability across India.
  • Not easy to apply from the tube – would have preferred a traditional pointed bullet.

I love how consistent the line has been across all the colours that I have tried– Bang, 69, Anarchy, Pulp Fiction, etc. This is definitely amongs the best lipsticks available in the market currently. I would not hesitate to pick up another shade from this line.
