Urban Decay Revolution Punch Drunk High Color Lip Gloss Review

Hello friends,

Hope all of you are enjoying good health and cheerful days! I am here to share another lip gloss from the Urban Decay Revolution range. After my amazing experiences with a few of their creamy juicy shades I went ahead and bought the rest of the shades, and some of them are quite new for me as as this one called “Punch Drunk.” Needless to say, I am enjoying the gloss phase right now along with gel lipsticks which is my current obsession.  So, let’s read on more about this Urban Decay Revolution Punch Drunk High-Color Lip Gloss!

My Experience with Urban Decay Revolution Punch Drunk High Color Lip Gloss:

Well, this lip gloss comes in a clear barrel tube packaging with fine silicone doe-foot paddle applicator. I totally adore the way “Urban Decay” is embossed on the head of paddle applicator cap.  Overall, I find the packaging quite attractive, classy, user friendly and travel friendly.

Talking about my shade “Punch Drunk,” it is described as a bright orange which is true to its description. It is really a bright summery orangish-red shade with shimmer-free, creamy-juicy pigmentation. Yes gals, it’s an unique orange gloss with red undertones at times, while it is not the true orange I had been anticipating through its packaging, which is good though as I am yet to sport a true orange shade on my pale skin tone. I see that it looks more like “basanti/ jogiya” shade in indoor natural light as well as artificial light and is similar to Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Sunset Orange.  It’s just that the texture is different hence I can make use of this gloss over Sunset Orange and also Urban Decay Matte “Temper” as well.

I am a big fan of such orange shades that tend to be of reddish hue unlike bright oranges.

The texture of the lip gloss is also impressive as it does not sit on top of my lip lines like “Fail Bait” or “69.” I feel it has the perfect consistency, it’s neither too thick or too runny and does not feel sticky on my lips. It effortlessly spreads on my normal dry lips in just 1-2 gentle swipes imparting a subtle translucent reddish orange color payoff with creamy, juicy, and glossy finish which is perfect.  However, I feel that it does retain its subtle translucency even after multiple swipes which might be good enough for subtly pigmented lips, but beauties with deeper lip pigmentation may need lip liner or lip concealer/primer before sporting this finish and shade.

Orange lip gloss

It deposits 80-85% pigmentation on lips maintaining a lightweight glossy finish all the time with no bleeding or settling into lip lines and dry patches.  I am also glad to see that it stays for 5-6 hours.  After that, it leaves behind a soft juicy sheen on the lips.

Urban Decay lip gloss

Like other glosses, it moderately hydrates my lips and I never felt the need to use a lip balm with this gloss.  In fact, it forgives minor dryness on lips, but hydrating the lips prior to application will do wonders.

Overall, I am impressed with this translucent yet intense gloss and find it worthy enough to get one chance by everyone. I will definitely recommend it to everyone including beauties with lightly pigmented lips.

As I have mentioned earlier, beauties with deep lip pigmentation may try this shade with little tricks and preps. I might get it again.

Red lips

Let’s sum up the pros and cons:

Pros of Urban Decay Revolution Punch Drunk High Color Lip Gloss:

  • Shimmer-free, creamy, juicy reddish orange gloss.
  • Imparts nearly 80% color payoff in a single swipe.
  • Does not sit on top of the lip lines or dry patches which is pretty impressive.
  • Forgives minor dryness and subtle lip pigmentation.
  • Does not highlight lip lines or dry patches.
  • Can be layered, does not bleed or feather.
  • Stays for 5-6 hours, though might fade away completely after one heavy meal leaving behind soft and juicy lips.
  • Does provide decent hydration to my lips as long as it stays on the lips.
  • Does not accentuate or aggravate dry lip issues.
  • Instantly brightens up my skin tone.
  • Good packaging.

Cons of Urban Decay Revolution Punch Drunk High Color Lip Gloss:

  • Some of you with deep lip pigmentation may find it a slightly tricky shade.
  • Maintains subtle translucency even after layering though it gives intense color payoff.

Well honestly, I feel that using a lip liner or primer beneath the lips will certainly help with this issue as it’s an intensely pigmented gloss.  I find myself reaching for this gloss most of the time as I am fan of such orange-red shades!
