Vaseline Relief and Repair Balm Review

Hello All,

I will be reviewing Vaseline Relief and Repair Balm from Vaseline’s Intensive Rescue collection. My husband got me the entire Vaseline Rescue collection some time back and I have been using it with good results.

What Vaseline Relief and Repair Balm claims?

Vaseline relief and repair balm’s highest combination of moisturising ingredients works within seconds to help relieve intense dryness symptoms. It promotes the ideal long term environment for even severely dry skin to repair itself within 5 days.

Directions for use: Apply liberally as needed.

Price/Quantity: £5.10 for 100ml
The product comes in a white bottle. Love the design of the new Intensive range. Even though it is simple, it comes across as very elegant.

Vaseline relief and repair balm delivers what it promises. During cold climate some parts of the body like elbows, knees and feet tend to become drier than other areas. This balm works well even on those areas. It leaves the skin totally hydrated. The other thing I liked about this balm is its consistency. It is neither runny like a lotion and neither is it thick like cold cream. It has got a silky smooth texture and gets absorbed well, leaving a shiny sheen on the skin. I use it mostly at night and when I wake up in the morning skin is soft and supple. Those who are prone to dry skin will relate to the fact that during night dry skin tends to itch. But since I have been using this balm, skin is hydrated and supple.

Another feature that I loved about this balm is that it is unfragranced. I personally do not like creams or lotions with too strong or sweet a smell. However this balm is unfragranced which according to me is a major advantage. The balm also is hypoallergenic, so even if you have very sensitive skin you need not worry.

Pros of Vaseline Intensive Rescue Relief and Repair Balm

1. It delivers what it says; it relieves dryness symptoms immediately
2. It is Lanolin free
3. It is Hypoallergenic and unfragranced

Cons of Vaseline Intensive Rescue Relief and Repair Balm

1. Contains parabens
2. Contains alcohol
3. Not sure if it has been launched in India

Final verdict:
An extremely good skin balm which really works. It works very well on dry skin by moisturising it and forming a protective barrier. I would recommend it highly for people with dry skin.

Rating 4.5 out of 5

  2. Great to hear about this product Dee. :)) It sounds just perfect for my super dry, sensitive skin…I hope it gets to the stores here by the time the weather turns cooler. :))

  3. Lanolin free should be a pro or con? Can someone throw some light on it? I had an understanding lanolin is good for skin 😐

  4. from net : Lanolin can be harmful if the sheep’s wool from which the lanolin is extracted was contaminated with any type of chemicals.

    1. Hmm… but otherwise it should be good for skin na! I am currently using a day cream which contains Lanolin, n it surely makes lot of difference, makes skin baby soft n supple.

      1. Lanolin is an effective moisturizer that was already used back in the Greek and Roman times. Back then, sheep farmers’ hands would be silky smooth and hydrated thanks to this substance and with time, its benefits became well known to everyone and it started being used in a wide variety of products. But in the 1960s more and more people reported allergies to Lanolin and this ingredient began to gain a bad reputation. But is it deserved? And what is Lanolin exactly?

        What is Lanolin?

Lanolin, also called Wool Fat or Wool Wax, is a thick, greasy and yellow substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of sheep. It protects sheep from harsh weather conditions by acting as a waterproof barrier, so that when these animals are out in the cold and rain for hours, they won’t get cold.

        1. Why is Lanolin used in beauty products?

Lanolin is used in cosmetics and personal care products because it is a fantastic moisturizer for skin, nails and hair. Because it acts like a lubricant, it makes skin soft and smooth and also prevents water loss. In addition, because it blends so well with most of the other cosmetics ingredients, it is also used to help form emulsions.
