Vellvette Box January 2013 Edition

Vellvette Box January 2013 Edition

I am so excited to share with you the goodies I got in my Vellvette Box – January Edition.  I love this concept of getting customized samples in a box every month because this way I get a chance to try out a lot of different high-end makeup, grooming, and skin care stuff customized to suit my skin type, hand-picked from an expert team.  The best thing about the concept is the price, three hand-picked high-end samples at just Rs. 399, isn’t that cool?

Before I show you, what I have got, here’s a little info about Vellvette – The Company:

With a Vellvette Box subscription, you will step into a world of unending surprises. Every month we send you 3 deluxe beauty and grooming samples that are specially chosen for you by our beauty experts, plus expert tips-n-tricks that will help you get the most out of every product. Try them at the comfort of your home. Discover what works for you. Once you know what you like, get juicy discounts when you buy the full-size versions of your favorites at our online store.

The subscriptions vary from 1-month to a heavily discounted annual package. Simply add any one of them to your cart and proceed to make the payment. You can now leave the guesswork out of your beauty regime and make the most out of every beauty investment!

Packaging:

Vellvette Box 1

It is a strong little black box that is sent across in a secure packaging so that all products are safe inside.  The box was wrapped cutely with a golden ribbon bow 🙂  The cute little black box is very sturdy and you can use it to store your lipsticks, earrings, or tic tacs 😛  There are a few cards with coupon codes and details about each product written on them.

Price:

  • Rs. 399 for a month’s Vellvette box.
  • Rs. 1099 to get Vellvette box for 3 months.
  • Rs. 2099 to get Vellvette box for 6 months.
  • Rs. 3999 to get Vellvette box for 12 months.

Vellvette Box 1

I have been trying to get my hands at this beauty box for the previous months, but since they release a limited number of boxes each month, I always missed it.  Though, one can opt for 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions to ensure you get the box every month 🙂

What I Got in My Box:

I got three products in Vellvette Box – January 2013 Edition:

Vellvette Box 3

  • Bath and Body Works Dark Kiss Body Lotion (59 ml).
  • Clinique Liquid Facial Soap – Mild (30 ml – its more than what you get at the Clinique store).
  • OPI Nail Lacquer (3.75 ml).

All three products

  • Coupon codes and cards describing each product in detail and how to use them.

Product Details

Bath and Body Works Dark Kiss Body Lotion:

Bath and Body Works Dark Kiss Body Lotion

This is my favourite product with a lovely smell and amazing texture.  I love this!

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap – Mild:

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap - Mild

This liquid facial soap is very mild and good and I had got a smaller size of it from the Clinique store.  This one is 30 ml.

OPI Nail Lacquer:

OPI Nail Polish

I have been wanting to try OPI nail polishes since a long time and this is such an awesome shade.

Vellvette Box 5

Other Features:

Another attractive feature is that this box contains coupon codes with Rs. 500, Rs. 350, Rs. 100, and Rs. 50 off if you purchase a product worth a certain amount from that particular month’s box.  For example, if you purchase Rs. 3000 worth of product from this month’s box, then you would get Rs. 500 off.

Vellvette Box 4

Products Available:

There are a whole lot of products available and all my favourite brands are listed in there (The Body Shop, Bath and Body Works, Benefit, Elizabeth Arden, Forest Essentials, Clinique, Lush, Clarins, OPI, Lancome, Lush, NYX, Max Factor, L’Occitane, etc.), so I am hopeful that I might get those products in my future boxes 😛

Is the Vellvette Box Worth Rs. 399?

Yes, because I got to try three different products from three different high-end brands.  Though, I am bad at calculations, I would give you the picture, Bath and Body Works Lotion is of 59 ml (full version of 236 ml costs Rs. 810).  The Clinique sample is of 30 ml (full-sized product of 200 ml costs Rs. 1200).  OPI Nail Lacquer bottle is of 3.5 ml (full sized bottle of 15 ml costs Rs. 520).

Did I Get Customized Products?

Yes, all three products were according to the picture I had given them in the questionnaire. The body lotion, mild liquid soap, and nail paint are all to my liking.

Scope For Improvement:

  • Hmmm, well, I would really like if the Vellvette team allows me to change the specifications about my skin type and preferences from time to time.  As we all know, our skin would change from season to season and so will our preferences 🙂
  • Also, one full-sized product could be included in the box.
  • I always check my cosmetics using the Cosmetic Calculator; however, I couldn’t check the codes for any of the products because there were no codes on OPI and Clinique products and the cosmetic calculator does not include Bath and Body products. I would be really happy if they sent us products whose codes could be checked with cosmetic calculators available online.

I would like to conclude by saying that its totally worth the money, after all you get to try 3 different high-end products for only Rs. 399 per month. Products such as Dior, OPI, Bath and Body Works, etc., are not available in many cities in India so its a good idea to opt for the box and try the samples first and get discounts on full-sized products if you want to get them online.

Now, I am waiting eagerly for my February Box 😛

  15. My mother would never allow me to subscribe such things. But my 18th bday is due on 15th feb so I guess I can ask it as a bday gift 😛
Lets hope that my mother agrees for this !

  16. got so tempted, placed an order 😀 but it dint ask me anythin about my preference 🙁 when does that happen…i did send them a query, yet to hear back…

  17. glad you got some interesting products upto your liking jomol – i have been there subscriber for long and i would like to share my awful experience with the jan box with all IMBB readers. they sent me a bath and body lotion, clinique toner for oily and combination skin ( i have normal skin as submitted in the questionnaire ) and a nyasa belgian choc scrub which too my shock was laden with a thin layer of fungus !!! i wrote the the customer care, they responded after more than 24 hrs by which time i had already thrown the scrub tin in the bin saying i must send them a picture. i said i have already thrown is away. they then sent me another mail saying maybe i misunderstood the layer of sugar with as that being fungus !!! so there !! maybe they think im cooking up a fake story !!! for such a small thing when i have never had complaints with any of the previous boxes – with this experience i dont think i will subscribe to their – very disappointed with their customer care

    1. How do i sign up for this website ?? When i click on ‘sign up’ on their website, it leads me to some other page. Is it by invite?

  18. Hi Jomol,
Interesting concept. But Can you elaborate on how this site works ? I’m a li’l confused. So you sign up for a subscription for 1\3\6\12 months and they ask your preference and they send products ? But do you choose whether the products will be skin care or makeup products?
