Hello lovely ladies,

We are currently in the season of trying to put our best foot forward. We all want our skin glowing and well rested. I too have been experimenting a lot with skincare and have been enjoying different scrubs and masks – sheet masks, cream masks – the more, the merrier.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa Replenishing Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Mask Review3

This one was suggested to me a long time back by my friend. I tried to procure it in India – since Vichy has officially launched in India now. However, the product remained unavailable. Finally, I got my hands on this in Thailand. Just to update, the product is now available in India too – it has finally been launched as of last month.

Product Description:
SKIN CONCERN:
Dryness, Dullness, Hydration

Inspired by the Vichy Thermal Spa, this ultra-comfortable, velvety sleep mask infuses the skin with hydration overnight, when skin is most receptive to treatments. Skin is soft, soothed and supple by morning.

INGREDIENT INNOVATION
Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Aquabioryl™ known to replenish the skin with hydration and form a protective film. Contains conditioning oils for intense overnight hydration. With exlusive fortifying and soothing Vichy Thermal Spa Water. Paraben-free.

EFFICACY
Bring home a piece of the Vichy Thermal Spa and experience the benefits of an intensive hydrating treatment in a convenient overnight formula. Skin feels deeply hydrated, soothed and suppler after just one night. Wake up to fresher, more radiant-looking skin.

TEXTURE
Ultra-comfortable cream-gel texture leaves skin velvety soft upon application. Formula is non-sticky, non-greasy, and easily absorbed into skin, making it ideal for overnight wear.

TOLERANCE
Allergy-tested. Suitable for sensitive skin. Tested under dermatological control.

How To Use:
• Apply a thick layer to face and neck and massage into skin with an upward smoothing motion.
• Place your thumbs on the temples and the ring fingers in-between the eyebrows and apply a relaxing pressure.
• Close your eyes, and let this fresh aqua-gel infuse the skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Breathe in and take the time to appreciate the refreshing feeling of the product.
• Repeat 1-3 times per week.

Price:
INR 1690 / USA – 28$
I bought it for about INR 2200 in Thailand

My Experience with Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa Replenishing Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Mask:

The product comes packaged in a royal blue glass tub with a white cap. There is no inner lid/cover to separate the product from the cap. So, there are times when I find the product in the inner corners, but there has never been any leakage because of it. The product inside is a soft aqua blue colour – pleasing on the eyes and equally pleasing on the nose. Yes, the product has fragrance, but it is very soft, not at all overpowering and dissipated quickly.

So, there are peel off masks, sheet masks, creamy masks which you apply for 10-15 minutes and also the face wash-cum-scrub-cum-mask. And then there are these fairly new entrants to this range of masks – which are these night masks. Night time is generally when your body gets to rest (as long as you aren’t a hotelier, a doctor or a BPO person). It is also when your skin rests, recuperates and the cell regeneration is at its highest. Lots of night creams and serums are based on this – and work towards healing the skin or regenerating it during this restful time. Similarly, sleep masks have come into being, to work on your skin while you are asleep. This particular Vichy mask has quite a fan following and is rated highly.

So how did it perform for me? Let’s see…I started using it a while back. Initially, I used it just 2-3 times a week (that’s what is suggested on the box, plus I was scared it might break me out) and no other night serum or anything. Later, I upped it to almost daily. By the third week, I even tried a couple of days of using the Estee Lauder Clear Difference Serum before putting this on.

Just to clarify on how I apply it – since the product comes packaged in a glass tub, I scoop out some and apply to my clean, dry face – either after washing or after washing and exfoliating. It’s colourless, once applied. It pretty much sinks into the skin instantly. A little product can still be felt on top of the skin. I don’t really slather it on because that would be impractical from the perspective that you are sleeping with this on. The product does not come off on the pillow or stain it or anything. Which means, the whole thing gets absorbed into the skin, over time. And do make a note that I have an oily skin which is acne prone.

What was amazing for me was that after the first night usage itself, my skin felt softer, smoother, more hydrated. With regular usage, I feel it has made the skin deeply hydrated. My skin feels soothed, kind of healed. The redness on my cheeks and around the nose seems to have receded. The skin just feels so much more supple and hydrated. It has had no impact on pores, blackheads, etc. But then, the company did not make any claims to this effect either. It feels as if the product just calms your skin down and makes it feel softer, more supple and fresh. It does not give any glow to the skin – like certain overnight oils do. But it makes the skin feel more radiant – like healthy radiant! I am totally in love with this product.

Most important, it has not broken me out. So YAY!!

To sum this up for you –

Pros of Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa Replenishing Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Mask:

• Lightweight textures
• Absorbs easily
• Refreshes the skin
• Skin feels hydrated, soft and supple
• Spreads easily
• No need to wash off – it stays overnight
• Did not break me out
• Suitable for all skin types – especially dehydrated, dull skin
• Pleasant fragrance
• Does not stain the pillow
• Paraben free

Cons of Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa Replenishing Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Mask:

• Fragrance could be an issue for people allergic to it
• Tub packaging! That’s the only bummer for me! I so wish it came in a tube packaging – would be more sanitary and travel friendly.

This is an amazing product from a drugstore brand. Does all that the company promises that it will deliver. I’m loving it. I’m sure it’s gonna find a permanent place in my skincare routine. And I am so happy that it is finally launched in India because don’t you just hate it when you try something new and fall head over heels, but aren’t able to replenish the stocks!

  1. I have not tried any night mask because I am not comfortable with the idea of putting a “mask” to bed. I fear it might get smeared all over, but this one seems to be very very promising. I really want to try it out now. Loved your review, as usual. 🙂
