I mostly use unscented lotions, but once in a while, when I have enough time for some do-it-yourself pampering and just lounging around at home, I get bored with that and find myself wanting a softly-scented body lotion that can make me feel even more cozy and relaxed. Good thing I have Victoria’s Secret Love Spell Midnight Hydrating Body Lotion for those little at-home pampering sessions.
Love Spell Midnight Label
Love Spell Midnight is part of a limited edition collection released a while ago called Midnight Garden, where some scents from Victoria’s Secret’s Secret Garden line were given a ‘dark, sensually mysterious twist’.
Product description from Victoria’s Secret:
It’s Love Spell at midnight. Dark. Mesmerizing. A rich, velvety twist on the luminous blossoms of Love Spell®, warmed by a soft embrace of vanilla. Moisture-rich lotion conditions with nourishing Aloe, Oat and Grapeseed Extracts, plus Vitamins C and E for fragrantly soft, hydrated skin.
Magic in the shadows. Mystery in the moonlight. Feel the enchantment of new Midnight Garden, a captivating, limited-edition collection of a favourite Secret Garden scent—Love Spell®—with a dark,
sensually mysterious twist. The notes are intense with untamed blossoms, mouth-watering fruits and luxuriously warm accords. The colours are deep and seductive with a mystical metallic glow.
Love Spell Midnight Lotion 8 fl. Oz bottle
Since my teens, and to this day, I still know and smell a number of girls who wear the original Victoria’s Secret Love Spell scent. It seems like a pretty popular scent, though personally it was never a favourite. It smelled a bit too sweet of a fruity floral to me. Love Spell Midnight, on the other hand, is my kind of sweet, because it smells of vanilla, and I love vanilla!
The vanilla note in this lotion really takes over the whole fragrance. It does smell like the original Love Spell (for reference, the original Love Spell’s notes are: peach, cherry blossom, and white jasmine) drizzled all over with foody vanilla. I wouldn’t say that this is a dark or sensual version of the original scent. This to me is a sheer, soft, somewhat comforting foody scent and I love to wear it at home and to bed.
The previous Victoria’s Secret body lotions I’ve tried were too strongly scented for me, but this was just fine. The scent lasts long on my skin— when I apply this before bedtime, I can still smell it on myself upon waking up the following day.
Surprisingly, I find that it moisturizes my dry skin better than the average drugstore body lotion. I wouldn’t buy it for its moisturizing properties alone, but it’s not bad. It also didn’t irritate my skin, which has happened to me a few times with some fragranced body lotions. The bottle is simple,
dispenses product easily, and has a subtle metallic sheen to it. Here is the ingredient list:
Victoria’s Secret Love Spell Midnight Lotion Ingredients
This scent is unfortunately no longer available at the Victoria’s Secret website but is for sale on Amazon for as low as $7.50 for the 8.4 fl oz/250ml bottle. I would definitely suggest Love Spell Midnight to anyone looking to try a vanilla-scented Victoria’s Secret body product, or to those who love vanilla in general and want a lotion that’s softly, nicely scented with it.
