Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil – How Miraculous is it?

Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil – How Miraculous is it?

“My mind says Victoria’s Secret model, but my heart says chocolate, pizza, food”.

Hi Ladies!

Yup yup it’s another VS product that I am here to walk you through – the Miraculous Dry Body Oil and the product says it’s “supermodel approved.” So, if the VS Angels can use it, let’s see if we can too!  I love using oils all over my body (other than on hair) and not just in winters, but all year round. Even if you might wince at oiling yourself in the scorching summers, I dig it completely as nothing beats the way you can massage oil into your skin lending that much-needed conditioning. Of course after-shower moisturizers do the trick too but can you deny the goodness of oil? So whilst I’m a sucker at getting regular oil massages done to nourish the skin, whether at a salon/spa or at home, I came across this dry body oil and thought let me give this a shot.

Dry Oil Facts:

  • Dry oils come mostly in spray forms or in a pump bottle and leave a satin finish to your skin, hence you can use in place of a lotion after your bath and just leave it in. No need of washing it off resulting in a semi-matte finish.
  • Compared to normal oils that are slightly thicker in consistency and leave a slick and greasy residue behind, dry oils are non-greasy after application.
  • Most dry oils contain Cyclopentasiloxane (CPS) or Cyclomethicone – synthetically manufactured ingredients derived from silicone and the most common ingredients used in personal care products that provide a microscopic protective layer to the skin. These are unmodified silicones and they evaporate quickly after helping to carry oils into the top layer of the epidermis and then get absorbed by the skin hence giving you that slippery feeling.
  • Now, since it is said that molecules cannot be absorbed beyond the upper skin cells because they are too large in size, the dry body oil due to the presence of these unmodified silicones gets attached to the top layer of the skin and helps the moisturizing components stick to the skin so that they absorb quicker and nourish skin with conditioning agents.
  • Why is it called dry as it’s not really dry? Well because it is much lighter in consistency compared to normal oils, hence is satiny rather than greasy in its feel. The unmodified silicones are somewhat volatile, so they will not weigh your skin down and feel heavy.
  • They are formulated to condition, repair and soften your body (or hair if it’s a dry hair oil).
  • However, as with any product that has chemicals (including shampoos etc.), too much use isn’t good for you as you don’t want it to accumulate in the body over time so moderate usage is advisable and not every day.

Packaging:

This comes in a sleek plastic bottle with a pump dispenser, so you can pump your desired amount without any messiness of dripping all over. What I loved was it had “Supermodel approved” inscribed on it which made me feel a wee bit special. Not that I achieve to be a VS supermodel, but I guess their marketing gimmick worked for me 😛

My Experience with Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil:

Being a dry oil, I wanted to not just use this at home, but carry when travelling as I wanted to see how good it was as a leave-in oil. I used a few pumps of this product to work my way into my skin and the initial feeling was definitely oily, but not slimy if that makes sense. As I massaged this into my skin, it amazingly disappeared and instantly got absorbed leaving my skin lubricated but not greasy at all. So basically what I’m trying to say is that it looks and feels like oil, but gets absorbed like lotion and leaves the skin feeling supple and soft with a semi-matte finish. Skin surely feels like satin, so I was impressed with the claims.

Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil

On comparing the before and after skin, I did notice a slight sheen, not much but looked slightly dewy and nourished which is what I wanted. I didn’t want it to look shiny or feel oily especially since I was to leave this on and go out straight after. No worries of staining clothes either!

Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil

As you can see from the contents, it contains excellent ingredients such as argan oil, grape seed oil, manoi oil (an infused perfume-oil made by soaking the petals of Tahitian gardenias in coconut oil) and sunflower seed oil which are super nourishing. The Tahitian gardenia flower extracts makes this oil smell absolutely divine and is lightly fragranced and not over powering so it’s a double whammy!

Pros of Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil:

  • Non-greasy.
  • Leaves skin feeling silky and soft.
  • Contains nourishing oils that are good for the skin.
  • Smells divine and fragrance lingers on.
  • Feels light.
  • Absorbs super fast.

Cons of Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil:

  • Too much use of chemicals is not good in the long run, so wouldn’t use every day.

Would I Repurchase Victoria’s Secret Miraculous Dry Body Oil?

Yes, I would actually as I would always want to have one dry oil in my stock at least.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5

Conclusion:

I would still prefer to use my normal body oils for my daily pre-shower massages as I like invigorating massages done before I use any soap/body wash on my skin plus normal oils are chemical free.  However, this dry oil with its super rich conditioning ingredients, sensual smell and satin feel is definitely a winner to use maybe a few times a week for an extra dose of moisture or when I’m travelling and don’t want to carry thicker messy oils.

Au revoir!
xoxo

    1. Hi Anju! Yeah any body oil is essential and a pleasure….this one was from USA but since I live in Delhi too I did notice some VS products sold in GK1 market in a shop that sells Indian and foreign beauty essentials…forgot the name of the shop but you can check out. However, I know they mostly stock some mists and lotions/creams and not the full range obviously…..maybe you can ask them if they can get you some stuff.
