Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Deep Softening Butter Review

Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Deep Softening Butter Review

I like Victoria’s Secret. There I said it.  They are the makers of the “Wonderbra!” They have pretty sparkly sweaters, and some of the most heavenly fragrances. What’s not to like?  My friend gave me Victoria’s Secret body butter in Pure Seduction after I spent a year telling her that she smells yummy every time we met. It smells like rainbows and bunnies, and a little girl’s fantasies.

No really, the smell is amazing with notes of red plum and sweet freesia. It’s fruity and floral and incredibly sweet.  “A flirty, floral fragrance. Entice in Pure Seduction, a passionate romance of succulent red plum and sweet freesia. Experience the luxury of fragrant hydration. Restorative formula is enriched with deeply conditioning shea and jojoba butters, plus antioxidant vitamin E. Massage on for long-lasting, intensive moisture, focusing on dry, rough areas. Skin feels soft, smooth and touchable: the ultimate sexy sensation.”

In non-marketing words, it moisturizes like a bad-ass, but will have you smelling like a walking bouquet.  The thing I like most about this body butter is that the scent lasts for hours after application. You are guaranteed to have people tell you that you smell yummy (yes, it’s creepy, but it’s still a compliment). However, I have noticed that if you use it all over your body, the scent can get quite strong and sickeningly sweet. It’s just a matter of personal taste, see what quantity works with you. Use the right amount, and you will love it!

The moisturizing properties are quite good too.  I paint. I have to use a lot of turpentine to clean my brushes and a bunch of soap to get the paint off my hands. Turpentine and oil paints are not scents you want to linger on your hands. Plus, all that detergent makes my hands super dry.  I have started using Victoria’s Secret body butter as a hand cream after I am done painting and cleaning. It completely gets rid of the smell of the oil paints and moisturizes my hands perfectly. The butter is absorbed quickly, so no greasy hands after application. I hate it when I have to bear with greasy hands for too long.

It’s especially great after showers. They say that when your body is moist (like after showering), it’s able to absorb the most moisture from any lotions/creams/butters you apply. The moisture lasts all day, even for dry skin like mine and like I said before, it absorbs very fast, so you don’t have to worry about greasy arms and legs.

I get allergies from certain lotions and butters. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter for example. So far, my skin hasn’t reacted badly to Victoria’s Secret body butter. I consider this a win.  The body butter is for $12 (they have clearance sale going on right now, 5 for $30 and 3 for $25) for 6.5 oz.

Pros of Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Deep Softening Butter:

  • Amazing smell!
  • Scent lasts for hours.
  • Very moisturizing.
  • Not greasy.
  • Absorbs fast.
  • Soft whipped consistency.
  • Travel friendly, it won’t spill over in your bag.
  • Didn’t cause any allergies for me.

Cons of Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction Deep Softening Butter:

  • Scent may be a problem for some. It’s quite strong.
  • Could be considered expensive for the quantity (however, The Body Shop’s body butters are for $20 for nearly the same quantity, so I think the price is completely fine).
  • For a body butter, it could be more moisturizing.

I wouldn’t recommend this for regular perfume wearers. The scent is strong and will overpower the perfume or mix with it to create a completely new scent, this may not always be good. Unless you have the same VS Pure Seduction perfume, it might smell a bit odd. Chanel No. 5 is nice on its own. VS Pure Seduction is nice, on its own. Together, I don’t think it would be a pretty combination.

  1. Bhargavi I love the way you’ve described the product, esp, the fragrance… it makes me want it so badly.. 😛 😛

I would love to try this, I love sweet strong fragrances lingering on my body… it looks totally worth for the price but don’t think I’ll find this in India.. :/

    1. I think you might find in one of those smaller import stores. They’ve all recently stocked up on a ton of Bath and Body Works products, you should find some Victoria’s Secret stuff in there too 😉

  2. I have this and eeeeeeeps it’s my favourite body butter ever!! I love combining with VS Pure Seduction perfume <3 Nothing like these two to make you smell uh-mazing throughout the day!! 🙂

    Love you review! 🙂

    1. You don’t like strong smells either? I’d try only applying it on your arms and using another lotion/body butter everywhere else. Too much work having two separate moisturizers? Yes. Completely worth it? Yes!

  3. I have the mist version of this, I agree the scent comes strong upon application but i love it when the scent has mellowed after some time. 🙂 I’d love to try this body butter. 😉

    1. I love the scent! Never tried the mist version, but I have a feeling the body butter might be a little milder. You might like it 😉
