Victoria’s Secret Seduction Dark Orchid Eau de Parfum Review

To take a break from my regular face mask reviews, I’m going to be reviewing a perfume today, from Victoria’s Secret. My husband bought this for me last month from the VS airport store. This perfume is called “Seduction Dark Orchid.” In Australia, most of the Victoria’s Secret stores are based in airports and also they mostly sell perfume, body care and cosmetics, not the whole lingerie line. Also, because they are the airport store, cute luggage and bags are also sold there.  Whenever I go to the airport, I try to get there early, just to browse VS and get some goodies 😛

Back to the perfume, it comes in a cute and sophisticated bottle which is pink-purple in color.  From looking at the bottle itself, I felt it looked like a sexy and seductive fragrance, good for any age group and more apt for autumn/winter. It also has a vintage, posh look.  Hubby purchased this after he tried the tester and liked it.  The set was not available, so he purchased the shower gel and lotion separately for me.

• Dry-down notes: Smooth warm amber, oud wood, Tonka beans, amber crystals, cashmere woods, creamy musk.

My Experience with Victoria’s Secret Seduction Dark Orchid Eau de Parfum:

This perfume’s gold hardware is classy, and set on a girly dark rose glass bottle, oozes sexy sophistication. The bottle is minimalistic and mature in comparison to some of the other fragrance packaging from the brand. I really like the gold detailing on the bottle. I usually purchase very girly and pompous perfumes, but this is a good change from those.  The fragrance is quite pretty and begins with plummy notes of cassis and plum with a little citrus from bergamot and yuzu. It then works its way to being a light, woodsy warm amber with oud, Tonka and cashmere woods along with some dewy floral including Midnight Orchid, as well as a good dose of musks.

This is a dark and sultry scent, but not too sharp and overpowering.  However, only wear a little bit on your pulse points as you should. If you like to wear a lot of perfume, it’s better to buy the body mist which is lighter. This ultra-wearable fragrance is dreamy for a night out, yet totally sophisticated for a day at work. Some might think this perfume is borderline masculine scent, I don’t think so, it’s just the warmth that gives that feeling.

It’s currently summer here, so I used this a couple of times and I am going to keep it for use in autumn which is just two months away. However, on the downside, this perfume doesn’t last too long on its own – I find it works better when layered with the body lotion.

Pros of Victoria’s Secret Seduction Dark Orchid Eau de Parfum:

• A sultry and seductive fragrance, good for any age group, especially if you don’t like girly fragrances.
• This line also has a body lotion and shower gel for layering.
• The bottle is very cute and sophisticated – the shape, colour and the detailing.
• Fairly priced for the quantity.
• Subtle fragrance which is not overpowering.

Cons of Victoria’s Secret Seduction Dark Orchid Eau de Parfum:

• Fragrance only lasts for around 3 hours which is not long lasting.

I have a couple of more fragrances at the moment which I am using, but I will definitely repurchase this once it’s over.
