Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace Hydrating Body Lotion Review

Has it ever happened to you that you look at some of your beauty products in your closet and mutter, what was I thinking!! Well, that is what exactly happens whenever I look at the VS Vanilla Lace Body Lotion. Before you jump to any conclusion, let me go ahead and explain it to you.  I have never liked vanilla flavor or fragrance. A firm “no” to vanilla ice creams or cakes and a firm “no” to any perfume or lotion with vanilla notes. Any time I would see vanilla fragrance in the stores, I would just skip past it as if it never existed for me. Until after ignoring it forever, I finally took the plunge because everyone deserves a chance…even plain Vanilla!

Packaging:

The lotion is packaged in a pale yellow colored plastic bottle with a golden colored cap. It has same representations of a VS Fantasies bottle which is almost opaque but you can still see the lotion content.  The cap with flip top nozzle is easy to use and also travel friendly. The body lotion is very creamy and has pale tint of yellow.  In comparison to other VS Fantasies lotion that I have tried earlier,the VS Vanilla Lace Body lotion has the most thick texture.

Fragrance:

The body lotion has a distinct vanilla fragrance. It is very sweet smelling but not entirely a fruity or floral fragrance. In fact it is very calming and soothing fragrance on the skin. For a person like me who did not prefer vanilla fragrance a lot, I was surprised that I did not resent it out right. It has not moved into my favorites category altogether but something which I can fairly tolerate. It is a fragrance which has slowly grown on me.

The fragrance is not at all overpowering. It tends to linger on to the skin for multiple hours, but in very faint notes. The fragrance also has a very mild musk smell to it, but it is almost subdued. The fragrance transports me to a place, which is very comfortable and tranquil.

My Experience with Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace Hydrating Body Lotion:

Even though the body lotion is very thick and creamy, it gets very easily absorbed into the skin.  However, there is still a very mild layer which provides enough moisturization to the skin. I have found this lotion to be very useful during winters as it has really helped my dry skin. The contents of aloe, oats and grapeseed makes it a very good nourishing body lotion. The body lotion also has antioxidants, Vitamin E and C and true to its claims it makes my skin feel soft and smooth.

I have been using this body lotion more in the night time routine. Firstly when I apply this lotion, it feels as if I am surrounded by a very relaxing and comfortable blanket after a hard day’s work.  And the second reason is I am still not very comfortable smelling like a cookie dough walking around.  Please forgive me if you are a fan of vanilla, my nose has a mind of its own!

Pros of Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace Hydrating Body Lotion:

• Very much suitable if you like vanilla fragrance a lot.
• It has a sweet smell, which lingers subtly on skin.
• Lotion is very creamy in texture, which can be easily blended.
• Does not require frequent re-application.
• Can see the available lotion content in a travel-friendly bottle.
• Keeps skin moisturized and nourished for a few hours.
• Small amount is required for each use.
• Body lotion is good for use during winters.
• Fragrance can be further enhanced by body lotion or shower gels.

Cons of Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace Hydrating Body Lotion:

• Body lotion contains parabens.
• Does not have SPF.

It has proved to be a very good body lotion. I really like to use in night time routine especially during the cold winters. The thing that I have not completely warmed up to is the vanilla fragrance.

Would I Repurchase Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace Hydrating Body Lotion?

I would definitely recommend this product if you like vanilla fragrance. As a body lotion, it has fared very good. I would not buy this product immediately again, but I am glad I tried it.  I have not yet started adoring vanilla fragrance, but at least I have learnt to accept it 😛
