“Salon care products,” these words seem to be magical and instantly draw me towards them. Salon products are believed to be very effective and I try to find out what type of products salon people use. On one such visit to a salon, I got to know that those people were using Vidal Sassoon’s products. I have come to know about this product through magazines and its a world-renowned brand today. I checked its availability online and most of the online stores have stocked up on this brand. I got the Vidal Sassoon Premium Base Care because the other available shampoo was for coloured hair.
Product Description (source online):
Makes hair shiny, increases the volume and makes them look healthy. This shampoo builds the foundation for beautiful hair. Base care treatment instills in you the salon-like experience. Its fragrance enhances luxurious feel while making hair perfect and easily manageable.
Rs. 325 for 90 ml.
How To Use:
Apply to hair and gently work up a lather without rubbing the hair against each other.
My Experience with Vidal Sassoon Premium Base Care Shampoo:
First, about the packaging, the shampoo comes in a very attractive dark red packaging. It adds to the whole “feel-good” factor. The fragrance is exactly the same as the Pantene shampoo. I expected it to have an awesome fragrance, but this is “the Pantene” smell. I used this shampoo on my heavily-oiled hair that I had applied just one hour before shampooing. It cleared out every bit of oil and “dirt” out of my hair. I would say it thoroughly cleansed the hair because I don’t get such a clean effect with Dove or other shampoos. Pantene though does the same job. Another feature is that I didn’t require a lot of the shampoo for rinsing.
After air drying, I noticed that my hair was pretty much manageable and there was a bit of a shine that I loved, but but, I love the volume of my hair when its shampooed, but this shampoo killed it.
I have wavy hair which looks fuller when shampooed, but after using this, the bounce was lost! The fragrance stayed in the hair for the whole day, which I liked, but wavy-haired people like me would know that its not easy to deal with a hair that “bounces no more.”
I wouldn’t get this shampoo again because I wouldn’t trade the volume of my hair for shine and sheen.
Pros of Vidal Sassoon Premium Base Care Shampoo:
- Attractive packaging.
- Lovely fragrance (similar to Pantene’s smell).
- Only a small amount is required for one-time rinse.
- Leaves hair manageable.
- Adds a bit of shine to the hair.
Cons of Vidal Sassoon Premium Base Care Shampoo:
- Don’t think its for wavy or curly hair, it would kill the bounce and waves.
- There is nothing “oh wow” about this.
- Price is a bit high for a shampoo that does average work. I can add a bit more and buy Body Shop’s Rainforest Shampoo.
- Fragrance is not distinct, it is very Pantene.
- Contains sulfates.
