My Experience with VLCC Acne Care Oil Control Face Wash with Clove and Menthol:

I am someone who suffers from periodic pimples.  By saying periodic, I mean I get pimples mostly in summers or if I don’t wash my face for a really long time, I see 1 or 2 of them on my forehead the next day.  The area of pimples is limited only to my forehead and rarely a pimple appears on my cheeks.  I haven’t got a single one so far on my nose, touchwood!

This time I got them after using the Lakme After Sun Skin Lightening Gel.  I was looking for a good face wash for my zits when I spotted the VLCC Face Wash on a site.  I just used it for 2 days and then gave it to my friend who has a BIG acne problem, want to know why?

I have oily+sensitive skin.  When I read on the site that this face wash has menthol, I thought it must be in less quantity and so it won’t irritate my skin, but I was wrong.  I never patch-tested it on my hand like I usually do and that was my mistake.  I directly applied it to my forehead and My God, I couldn’t even bear it for 2 minutes on my skin!

I had not applied it anywhere near my eyes, but still my eyes stung and started watering.  The menthol is so strong! The next day, I took a less amount of the face wash and used it for my entire face and again I couldn’t bear it.  The very next day, I took pictures for my review and gave it to a friend, who’s happily using it now and I guess that’s because she doesn’t have sensitive skin.

Also, I did notice that it kept my face oil-free for close to 3 hours and it was successful in removing all the dirt and grime from my face.  Talking about the pimples, they are still there and now I’m hunting for another face wash that would solve my problem.

Anyway, let me sum up the pros and cons for you:

Pros of VLCC Acne Care Oil Control Face Wash with Clove and Menthol:

  • Face wash comes in a tube packaging which makes it easy to use.
  • It is inexpensive.
  • It contains clove and salicylic acid, things that are great for controlling acne.
  • It lathers well.
  • It effectively removes dirt and grime from the face.
  • Keeps the face oil-free for around 3 hours.
  • It doesn’t dry out the skin.

Cons of VLCC Acne Care Oil Control Face Wash with Clove and Menthol:

  • It has a strong clove smell.
  • It has a lot of menthol, so it irritates the eyes.
  • It contains SLS.
  • It is not for those with sensitive skin.

Will I Buy VLCC Acne Care Oil Control Face Wash with Clove and Menthol Again?

No, I will not.  In fact, I will stay away from products that have menthol.

Will I Recommend VLCC Acne Care Oil Control Face Wash with Clove and Menthol?

I can’t comment on the pimple-clearing claims made by the face wash since I used it only twice.  Those who have oily or combination skin and suffer from acne, but do not have sensitive skin, may try this and see how it works for them.

Like I said, I am on the lookout for a good face wash for my acne, any recommendations?

  6. Try Himalaya neem foaming face wash.. It doesn’t dry skin and makes your soft.. I have been using it for a long time.. I wouldn’t say I didnt get acne or pimples using it .. But it is very less severe when compared not using it.. I realized this when I went for my vacation without this face wash and couldn’t wash my face properly.. I got pimples and acne.. When I came back and started using this, it is amazing, my skin is now clear and with less problems.. But I am sure you can’t expect this face wash to brighten your face like many other face washes..

  7. I don’t like clove and menthol so this is a big no! for me. :nono: :nono: Too bad it stung you :((
For pimples, you cold try the Himalaya Foaming neem cleanser. I get periodic pimples too and it works pretty good for me. And,it’s cost effective too. :preen: :preen:
