VLCC Ayurvedic Henna for Hair Review

VLCC Ayurvedic Henna Review

I have long avoided henna for hair because of its messy application and the extra cleaning the bathroom requires after rinsing it off. But, the mercury in Hyderabad is soaring rapidly and I wanted to somehow believe in the myth that henna cools off  head. I know for sure that heena applied on body parts does tend to remove the heat off the body, but I read somewhere that is not true in the case of hair, but, what the hell, with my head becoming like a furnace, I wanted to believe in the “henna cooling power.” I wanted to get a readymade mix, which would do the conditioning part also. If I were to prepare the henna concoction on my own, that would have taken at least two days. So, I bought this Ayurvedic Henna conditioning preparation from VLCC from the Health and Glow outlet.

KEY INGREDIENTS:

PRICE: Rs. 75.

WHAT THE LABEL CLAIMS:

Henna, traditionally, the symbol of passion and love, harbinger of wealth and prosperity, warder off of unhealthy influences, heena, the herb of divine grace! Now, brought to you by VLCC, in a secrete traditional recipe for the beauty of your crowning glory. Gives shine and luster, darkens hair colour and promotes hair growth. Enriched with natural proteins and vitamins C and E, which nourish the roots; musk root which promotes growth. Margosa which fights all scalp infections and Indian Gooseberry which adds shine and luster.

PURPOSE: A pure hair treatment containing henna leaves along with musk root, Indian Gooseberry, Margosa, and Shikakai, enriched with natural proteins and vitamin C and E. This combination has been traditionally used to give colour, shine, and luster, and body to hair in addition to preventing hair loss and giving it a healthy look.

METHOD OF USE: Make a paste of henna powder with water. Apply to dry hair for half an hour, rinse thoroughly.

MY TAKE ON VLCC NATURAL SCIENCES AYURVEDIC HENNA NATURAL HAIR CONDITIONER WITH MARGOSA AND MUSK ROOT POWDER:

I am a hopeless case with making batter out of powder…..same is the case with this henna powder; after I thought I had mixed the powder well, there were clumps of all kinds and sizes still in the batter and I didn’t know how to melt (????) them down. I had made the henna to a dosa batter consistency……(that’s why I am calling it batter and not paste). I applied the paste on to my hair after taking the hair into sections, again, with no proficiency or precision. Applying henna has an immediate cooling effect and it was relaxing and refreshing. After keeping it in the hair for more than half an hour, I rinsed the henna away. VLCC henna did have a conditioning effect on my hair, but it was not the “wow” kind……I wanted to get the conditioning Mrun got after using henna….see THIS. VLCC henna just lightly conditioned my hair and since I hadn’t used egg, it had no bad odor either. Since I don’t have any grey hairs, I cannot really tell how it covers grey hair and there was no burgundy or red colour coating on dark brown-black hair strands. Overall, a very good experience and I hope with its margosa and musk root powder, it does a whole lot of good to the hair.

Henna batter with clumps of all sizes.

PROS OF VLCC NATURAL SCIENCES AYURVEDIC HENNA NATURAL HAIR CONDITIONER WITH MARGOSA AND MUSK ROOT POWDER:

• Contains the goodness of gooseberry, shikakai, margosa, and musk root powder.
• Has an immediate cooling effect on head/hair.
• Darkens dark hair (??).
• Conditions hair.
• Price very reasonable.
• Can be applied directly as a paste on hair for conditioning.

CONS OF VLCC NATURAL SCIENCES AYURVEDIC HENNA NATURAL HAIR CONDITIONER WITH MARGOSA AND MUSK ROOT POWDER:

• The conditioning effect is very minimal, I had expected really glossy hair.
• I don’t know how it would work on grey hair because I don’t have any and I didn’t see any significant coating or change of colour on my brown-black hair.

IMBB STAR RATING: 3/5…..-2 for uncertainty over colouring grey hair.

WILL I PURCHASE AGAIN: I already got a few more packets :).

  7. i love henna and I have a great experience in the post. I used to use the regular non branded one, mix it with coffee powder and water and leave it overnight. used to apply in the morning, leave it for an hour and wash off. great conditioning even without the egg, but the white does become red making it more obvious you have colored it versus looking all natural. also, if one has colored their hair they cant do a henna within 6 months. atleast thats what the parlour lady said 🙁

Given a choice i wud prefer henna over color anyday. the advantage with colouring your hair however is that you can choose your color while in henna i presume you cannot

  8. Hey…I dont mind using henna..since I have an oily scalp, its not a prob!! can anyone tell me HOW CAN I GET COLOR ON MY HAIR USING HENNA??? have tried mixing coffee powder and soaking henna in tea liquor but that didnt seem to help much 😕 🙁

  9. jomol…. hav u tried henna by habibs??? its awesome…!!
n use slightly luke warm water to make ur henna batter…just mix it n keep it coverd for lik 15 mins… d lumps would dissolve easily….
also, add coffee, curd for good conditioning…
i often mix hennaa wid just curd n no water..it makes an excellent hair pack….!!!

    1. :thanks: Noopuri, i will try this for sure coz i like ur hairs… :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

  10. Nice review Jomol 🙂 I’ve only used henna once in my life- when I was in 10th I think n my mum forced me to put it saying it’ll add shine and bounce (back in the days when she used home made henna). I was so scared I’ll get ‘mehendi’ colored hair that I washed it off within 10 min and the bathroom was such a mess with all the henna! :stars:
