VLCC Groome 4 Makeup Wedges Review
I love my L’Oreal Roll On True Match Foundation. I do not, however, like its roll-on applicator. It’s no good. I bought these makeup wedges a long time ago hoping that it would help my foundation to actually look smooth and not streaky as the roll-on applicator does. They worked fabulously! These makeup sponges blend like nobody’s business. The best part is that I didn’t have to shell out a fortune for it (I consider $20 for a silly little blending sponge a fortune – Beauty Blender, I’m looking at you). The whole pack of four wedges cost Rs. 129 (around $2.30).
It’s a product from VLCC, a trusted brand. It claims to be used for “flawless foundation, concealer, and powder application.” I can say for sure that it’s great for foundation and concealer application. Powder, though, I’m not so sure. I haven’t really tried it with powder, and I don’t like using sponges for powder anyway. I prefer a big fluffy powder brush.
So far I have not experienced any problems with this product. It blends just the way I want it to. I haven’t noticed my foundation caking or settling into fine lines. I get flawless streak-free foundation after blending with Groome’s makeup wedges. I also like the angled shape, it’s easier to blend around the eyes and nose. It’s possible that some might find this a little inconvenient if you are used to the roundness of certain makeup sponges.
I especially like that I’m getting four in one pack. It seems every time I wash a sponge, I will need to use it the very next minute, so it’s good to have some dry ones spare.
The sponges can be used wet or dry. If you want to use it wet, rinse it under warm water and squeeze out all the water so the wedge is only damp and not dripping with water. Dab liquid foundation on your face in little dots, and blend with the damp sponge. They are also pretty easy to wash. Wash in warm soapy water and rinse out the soap thoroughly, then leave it to dry overnight.
Pros of VLCC Groome 4 Makeup Wedges:
- Very affordable.
- Travel friendly.
- Washable and re-usable.
- Four in a pack.
- Soft.
- Angular shape makes it easy to blend.
- Versatile, can be used wet or dry.
- Blends really well.
Cons of VLCC Groome 4 Makeup Wedges:
- Made of natural latex (people with allergies to latex be warned).
- Angular shape may be difficult to use on certain areas of your face (however, I have not yet experienced any problems).
- Stains remain after washing (but I hear this happens to the famed Beauty Blender as well).
Overall, it’s a pretty great product at a great price. If you want some budget-friendly makeup sponges, I definitely recommend these.

It’s a pretty great product, hope you like them just as much as I did 😉
I used to be such a sponge hoarder at one point if time but now i mostly use my fingers to apply foundation. They look soo pretty. Thanks fir the review 🙂
I get paranoid that they’ll be finger streaks on the side of my face when I blend with my fingers. I know, it’s silly. 😛
Wow I wanted to buy these but was not sure how these would be. Now I can :). Thanks for the review 🙂
Try them! I hope you like them! 🙂
i love these for blending. I just dont remember to use them half the time. I end up using my foundation and concealer brushes but thanks for reminding me of these. i can start using them again. Just have plenty of them lying around. 🙂
I know what you mean. But once I figured out how to use them wet, there was no turning back! I just can’t seem to make my foundation brush give me the same effect for some reason.
