VLCC Papaya and Apricot Face Scrub Review

VLCC Papaya and Apricot Face Scrub

Hello ladies,

I hope everyone is enjoying the great online shopping festival. I did not shop much because I have other expenses to take care of but obviously I picked up a bunch of 4-5 items from the sale; however my brother due to my influence has also become an online shopping addict and he got so many things like his clothes, shoes and watch and took full advantage of the sale. So I will come to today’s pick that is a mild scrub wash from VLCC. I have used a tonnes of VLCC products and none has disappointed me to a big extent, so I thought of getting this one too. I have used their papaya and pineapple scrub which was great too and there was a similar experience with this as well.

Price: Rs 150 for 80 grams

What VLCC claims about it?

Sensitive skin is prone to faster skin damage as a result of exposure to dust, pollution and the harsh rays of the sun. This scrub has micro-granules of papaya extract and is enriched with apricot kernel oil that gently exfoliate the surface of the skin, remove superficial blackheads, whiteheads and other skin impurities leaving it smooth and healthy.

Directions for use: Cleanse the face with water or a face wash. Take appropriate amount of scrub in your hand and apply all over the face leaving the eyes and mouth area. Keep scrubbing for 2 minutes. Rinse the face with water. Dry with towel.

For best results: Follow it up by applying VLCC Lavang Moisturiser. May be used daily.

Key Ingredients: Apricot Kernel Oil, Vitamin E, Sodium Hyaluronate, Papaya Extract, SLES.

My take on VLCC Papaya and Apricot Face Scrub:

I have always preferred the apricot scrubs over any other variants, so the moment I saw this I did not think much on it and straight away got it. The scrub comes in a transparent plastic tube with a white packaging design with all orange fonts and a cute picture of apricots and papaya. It has a flip cap and that too is white in colour and I loved how the tube looks because it is made up of pastel shades and that peachy scrub can be seen through from the tube itself which makes us aware of how much product is left. I think they have created only one size which is travel-friendly too but I would prefer carrying a smaller size to travel.

Talking about the quantity, they are always half the size of the tube. As it is an inverted tube, the upper portion is always empty. It claims to have papaya extract, apricot oil and vitamin E which are all very good for the skin. The consistency of the scrub is very creamy and comes in a cute peach colour which helps to effectively remove all the traces of make-up and keeps the face very clean while the small granules are orange in colour which exfoliates the skin in a mild way. The fragrance is amazing and it smells of luscious apricots with a hint of papaya fragrance.

This scrub however cannot be used for proper exfoliation as the granules are pretty small and that is because it is designed for every day use. The time I wash my face with this I feel fresh and the face actually looks clean and bright. That healthy and bright skin layer comes out. But then I do not use it every day because as of now winters are going on and the skin is already stretchy and dry, so I would limit to use it like 4 times a week that too only once in a day. During the summers and monsoons I think we can use it every day but I think dry skinned beauties should avoid it as it makes the skin stretchy for a while but then the skin comes back to the normal stage. Overall I would say that I love harsh scrubs and I don’t think I like such gentle scrubs and I want that full exfoliation but people who have sensitive skin and cannot bare those harsh ones, surely go for this one.

Pros of VLCC Papaya and Apricot Face Scrub:

-Easily available and inexpensive too
-The packaging looks attractive in peach, white and orange and is travel-friendly as well
-Made with a consideration to sensitive skin and it was not at all harsh to the skin
-Removes off the make-up except for the eye make-up as we wouldn’t prefer to use a scrub there
-Leaves skin healthy looking and fresh and completely clean
-Helps to remove minor whiteheads and blackheads with daily use
-Has a blissful fragrance of apricots and the consistency is creamy
-The granules are not harsh and good for daily exfoliation

Cons of VLCC Papaya and Apricot Face Scrub:

-At some point of time it will make the skin dry as exfoliation cannot be done everyday
-People who like harsh scrubs may not like this one
-Cannot be used in winter as it will make the skin dry

Will I repurchase/ recommend VLCC Papaya and Apricot Face Scrub?

No, I don’t think I will get it again as there are so many apricot scrubs better than this one and I totally love St. Ives apricot scrub so I think I will stick to that. People who have sensitive skin and you do not like harsh scrubs than this is the one for you as it will keep your skin clean and healthy due to daily exfoliation.

  2. Saloni, thanks for the review. I also prefer harsh scrubs over the milder ones since I am looking for proper exfoliation.
Is there any such scrub you would suggest? which exfoliates well but doesnt leave the skin dry?
