VOV Makeup Kit-Review

This is the first time I am doing a review on a makeup palette. Santa Clause gifted this to me on Christmas (at least I like to think that way) 😀 just kidding! My aunt gifted this to me and what more can I ask for! I was looking for an eye shadow palette for doing more eye makeup tutorials for you all and got this just at the right time. Anyway, coming back to the review, VOV is a well known brand by now and many of its products have been already reviewed on IMBB. So I will directly begin the review now.

20 eye shadows, 5 lip colors, 3 blushers, 2 powder cakes, 1 eye pencil, 1 blush brush, 1 lip lip brush, 1 double-sided eye shadow applicator.

Packaging:

It comes in a silver outer carton and the palette is of black plastic with a good quality mirror inside. The blushes and powders are in sliders.

1. Blushes:

There are 3 blushes in this palette. First one is a bright Barbie pink, too bright for my taste. Second is a brownish pink and my favorite. Third is more of a highlighter. All three are highly pigmented and are a bit shimmery. The shimmers are not at all OTT and give a lovely sheen on the cheek when applied. The third one can be worn in evenings.

2. Lip colors:

These are basically highly pigmented lip creams. They are super buttery too. I was amazed at their gliding ability. The five colors included are- mauvish pink, warm pink, bubblegum pink, ice pink and a rich purplish pink. I would have liked a red in the stack though. The staying power is amazing as they stay on for like forever. But yes, the lips get a tad dry after about 4 hours. But just a touch of lip balm over it and you are sorted without compromising on the color.

 

3. Eye shadows:

What can I say about these beauties! They are so super soft that they have practically NO fall out! The shades are very good too, although I would have liked a matte black among them. I have described the shades in the picture. The swatches are taken without primer, so you can see how pigmented they are. And they stay on pretty long too. My eyelids are not oily and on them these stay for more than 6 hours without primer.Expect a whole lot of eye shadow tutes from me now as I am totally loving these shades! 😀

 

4. Powder:

There are two powder cakes in this palette. One shade is too light for my complexion and chalky as well, so I guess I would just use it to highlight my brow bone sometimes. The other is a shimmer highlighter and a light swipe over the cheekbone before the evening party would be just perfect.

5. Eye pencil:

This one is a total dud! It was very slightly pigmented and was scratchy and coarse. We can only use it for drawing sketches on canvas!

6. Brushes:

The blush brush has got very soft bristles and picks the right amount of product, the lip brush ( although it looks bad) spreads the lip colors very evenly on lips, the eye shadow applicator I haven’t used till now, so I cannot comment.

Overall, this is an awesome palette perfect for girls on-the-go. It is lightweight and very convenient to carry around.

Pros of VOV Makeup Kit:

1. Very handy.
2. All products are extremely pigmented and good except the eye pencil.
3. Staying power is pretty good.
4. Affordable.
5. The mirror is of nice quality.
6. The eye shadows have no fall out.

Cons of VOV Makeup Kit:

1. The eye pencil is a disaster.
2. Powders could have been better.
3. They could have included a red lippy.

Do I recommend VOV Makeup Kit?
