VOV Soft Matte Lip Cream – 07
Hello everyone!
Today I would be reviewing VOV soft matte lip cream in 07-which is an exact dupe of NYX soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa.
So, the other day I was at The Beauty Centre, to repurchase Addis Ababa as I had misplaced mine. But as it was out of stock I turned and started walking towards the Colorbar counter, that’s when the VOV SA called out to me and showed me this. And I was like “Omg!! It looks so same!!” To know how it fared in comparison with the NYX one, read on.

Okay, here they have copied everything from the NYX soft matte lip creams. Right from the black cap and colored tube to the doe-foot applicator, everything is same including the font on the tube!! 😛
The only difference is while in NYX ones the name of the shade and the number are written at the bottom of the tube, in VOV ones only the shade number is written at the bottom as the VOV ones do not have shade names. But the numbers are same as the NYX ones. For eg: VOV in 07 is same as NYX one in Addis Ababa which is also shade number 07 in NYX. You can find all the shades of NYX soft matte lip creams in VOV this way.
These creams do not leak as such so can be carried around without any hassle.
Shade/ Pigmentation/Texture:
The shade is a gorgeous blue based pink which instantly brightens up the face. It doesn’t clash with the yellow undertones of my skin, thus making it very wearable. It is not as bright as it looks in the tube but it is somewhat bright, maybe a little bright than a normal pink but very wearable on a daily basis.
It is insanely pigmented. One swipe covers the lip pigmentation completely and gives a nice soft pink color to the lips. You can use multiple swipes and build the color without the fear of it getting streaky.
The texture is also the same like the NYX ones. At first when you apply, it is wet, but it instantly dries up to a powder matte finish. But the only difference is that while the NYX one dries immediately, this one takes up to 5 minutes to completely dry and give that soft cream wali matte finish.
Since it is very matte, it does settle in the fine lines of the lips, so it’s better if you properly exfoliate your lips, apply a lip balm and then apply this. Wearing this with chapped lips is a big NO-NO!!!
Both NYX one and the VOV one have that same sweet smell, you know they smell somewhat like cookies. But I’m ok with it as the smell completely disappears within 5mins of application.
Another point is that it plumps up the lips so much!!!! This is definitely a con for me as I already have big lips.Since it is super matte, it doesn’t transfer on glasses and tissues at all, which is a major plus point!!
The lip creams easily stay on for 4hours with light snacks in between. But after that they fade very unevenly.
Pros of VOV Soft Matte Lip Cream-07:
• Superbly Pigmented.
• Very affordable.
• Stays as it is, without bleeding or feathering.
• Completely matte.
• Glides smoothly.
• Doesn’t transfer.
• Long staying power.
Cons of VOV Soft Matte Lip Cream-07:
• Settles in fine lines.
• Plumps up the lips too much.
• No testers available, but you can check out NYX swatches n purchase these, as the colors are exactly the same. 😛
• Availability might be an issue for some.
Would I recommend/repurchase of VOV Soft Matte Lip Cream-07?
I don’t have any problems as such with these because the cons are almost the same as the NYX ones. Besides my Addis Ababa had costed me Rs. 650 at ‘The Beauty Centre’ and this one costs only Rs.150. So its less than 1/4th of the price, so I would surely repurchase this.
PS: Initially I was very skeptical about purchasing it from VOV as I didn’t trust the brand much. But after using it I can tell you that this is a great product, I would surely try out more stuff from VOV. So I highly recommend this brand to everyone as they have great products at a very low cost!!

Yaaa its a steal at 150!!! Having used both NYX & VOV i’d highly recommend VOV as the quality is almost the same…
