7 Ways to Get Knots Out of Hair Fast

Hi, everyone!

If you are reading this post, then I’m sure that you are more than familiar with the pain and tedium of dealing with knotted and tangled hair. Those with long, fine and voluminous hair are more likely to get tangles in their hair. We know that it isn’t easy to get rid of knots without enduring a lot of pain and spending a lot of time. Below are some tips and tricks that you might find useful, if you’re trying to get rid of knots out of your hair and you don’t have the luxury of spending a lot time on it.

Knots in hair

1. Leave-in conditioner:

It is your best friend. If you’re dealing with knotted or tangled hair, then there is nothing that will work as smoothly and as effectively as a good leave-in conditioner. Apply it liberally all over your hair, let it sit for a few minutes and comb your hair as usual. This will also prevent further knotting in your hair.
Recommendation: L’Oreal Paris Evercreme Sulfate-Free Moisture System Nourishing Leave-In Spray.

2. Hair serum:

If you don’t have access to a leave-in conditioner, then a hair serum can also do the job. The idea is to provide an instant boost of nourishment to the hair so that the already existing tangles can open up.
Recommendation:L’Oreal Paris Smooth Intense Instant Smoothing Serum.

3. Essential oils:

If your hair is heavily knotted, then you will need something more moisturizing than a leave-in conditioner or hair serum. Apply some essential oil and allow it to sit on your hair for 30 minutes. Wrap your hair in a hot towel to allow the oil to penetrate deeply. Comb as usual and wash it off with a gentle shampoo.

4. Detangling brush or Wide toothed comb:

When you have too many knots, a regular brush or comb won’t do the job. You will need to use either a wide toothed comb or a detangling brush.
Recommendation: The Tangle Teezer, The Wet Brush.

5. Starting from the ends and moving upwards:

It is highly recommended that you start combing your hair from the ends and gradually move upwards towards the crown. This is the most effective way of detangling your hair.

6. Hair Conditioner:

Another quick way to ease out the knots from your hair is to jump into the shower, rinse your hair and apply loads of conditioner. You will find that this does simplify the task of detangling your hair.

7. Combing your hair with conditioner on:

Make sure to comb your hair while you still have the conditioner on. This will allow the conditioner to work more effectively. It will be easier for you to remove the knots after the shower.

8. Working in small sections:

The key to detangling your hair fast is by dividing it into at least 2-3 sections and working on only one section at a time.

9. Using your fingers:

Sometimes you will find large knots in your hair. In this case, you will need to use your fingers to gently detangle the knots. This is the most effective and painless way to deal with very large or very fine knots.

10. Detangling spray:

If your hair gets knotted a lot, then investing in a good detangling spray is a must. Spray this product liberally on your hair whenever required and detangle your hair with ease.
