  1. though m not married yet, bt i can totally understand ur situations, I have few big kundan n silver Jhumkas which I used to rarely wer bfr, Bt the trick to wearing big pieces like these is to let thm b the center on attention, meaning don’t wer any other heavy jewelry such a big neck piece etc with it.. wearing big earrings with Indian outfits look very very chic..

  2. even I faced the same problem last week when I wore a heavy earring. my left ear got really hurt that I have to keep it bare for 2 days. I think if we use a sturdy stud(the thing which is used to hold the earring) or a washer (the white round thing) the pain can be reduced…. if any other remedies are there, i also wanna know 🙂

  3. what i do is wear one of those gold strings/chain with the ear-peace, which you would stick into your hair from the other end supported by hair pins. I personally like them as they can support the weight of heavy ear rings and as these are usually a chain like extension, they’re removable so you can choose to wear them (or not) with any of your earrings.
i have one in gold, so it comes very handy with any of my gold colored pieces. Hope this helps you.

  4. To prolong the wear time of very heavy ear rings, I usually have a set of very fine gold thread(also called saharas) that go round the ear in a very discreet manner and can be fastened into the screw of the ear ring. So now the weight of the ear ring is on the FULL ear and not just the ear lobe.
The saharas can be used with any pair of ear rings and dont look weird at all.
    Hope this helps.

  5. I own many heavy jhumkas and danglers( i love dressing up all ethnic, like a bride *preen* ). if i find them too heavy to carry by themselves, i use it with the gold thread kinda thing ( i don’t know what it is called… here we call it “maati” ). It comes in all styles, plain gold matis will suit if the earrings are really huge. It also comes with designs, stone work and as a string of pearls( it is available in gold as well as artificial) . Choose the maati which compliments your earrings best and you are good to go. It really works for me since most of the weight will be transferred to ears rather than the ear lobes alone. Hope this helps. 🙂

  6. hi dear, i just read yoru fascination *powder* n pain story *waaa* for your wedding jhumkas. a best possible solution is to get matching dangle chan that may go pliged back in hairs with clip or as loop around ear. i have tried same with my wedding khumkas. last year i got those real heavy silver rajasthani jhumkas n wearing them thin a matching silver loop makes my life realy easy. *happy dance* *happydance*
