Happy Dasara to all of you. Today, I am going to review a hair mask for you all. Festival and wedding season is already here and to keep our hair looking gorgeous among all the mad rush of work, shopping and cleaning, using a hair mask is a must. I like using natural homemade hair masks, but they need more effort and time, same is the case with L’Oreal hair spa cream baths also. So, I was looking for a deep conditioning hair mask which is effective and quick to use. While browsing through different hair masks, I finally settled down for Wella System Professional Smoothen Hair Mask.
INR 995 for 200 ml (some sites sell it at higher cost).
Wella SP Smoothen Mask is an intensive treatment to improve manageability in thick, coarse and unruly hair types. Infused with a vitamin-rich blend of Avocado Oil, Hydrolysed Keratin and Pro Vitamin B5, Smoothen Mask rejuvenates, nourished and deeply conditions unmanageable, thick, coarse and frizzy hair. Wella SP’s exclusive Active Cashmere Complex effectively detangles, smoothes and calms the hair structure to protect against frizz and improve manageability.

My Experience with Wella System Professional Smoothen Hair Mask:
Before starting the review, let me tell you about my hair type, I have curly/wavy, dry hair which is frizzy too. As I said, I wanted an effective and quick-to-use mask, so I tried and tested this one in various scenarios. I have used it with anti-dandruff shampoos (which are drying in nature) and kept the mask on for 5 minutes only, result was good; hair felt softer and easy to detangle, but effect on taming frizz was not as good as I expected it to be. Next, I used it with moisturizing shampoos, results were almost same. Going further, I kept in on for 20 minutes and this time, the results were good. So, I feel for normal to dry hair, keeping the mask for 5 minutes is good enough, but for very dry and frizzy hair like mine, it’s good to leave the mask on longer to see the results.
I would like to share one more thing here, once after using this mask, I went to the parlor to get my hair set. During the blow drying session, a huge amount of smoke came out of my hair, I really panicked but my stylist said it’s just some product build up. He asked me if I had oiled my hair, I told him that I have not oiled, but I had used a hair mask a few hours ago. He gave me a long lecture on how important it is to wash off the mask completely. Just rinsing with water is not enough; we should massage hair very well to rinse the mask completely off.
Wella System Professional Smoothen Hair Mask comes in a plastic jar, and its consistency is like some cream. It has a very pleasant smell, but sadly, it does not linger long in the hair, it vanishes once your hair dries.
Pros of Wella System Professional Smoothen Hair Mask:
- Does make hair soft and smooth.
- Controls frizz to some extent.
- Takes less effort and time, plus point for lazy or busy people 😛
- Smells great.
- Does not weigh down hair or make it greasy.
Cons of Wella System Professional Smoothen Hair Mask:
- Long list of chemicals, including parabens.
- For thick/more frizzy hair, the mask needs to be kept longer than the mentioned time.
- Jar packaging is unhygienic.
I recommend this to everyone with dry hair, who wants to get smooth and soft hair with less effort and time. Girls with hair like mine (dry, frizzy, curly hair), if you are fine keeping the mask for longer than 5 minutes, it will be a nice product for you too.
