Wet n Wild Coloricon Kohl Eyeliner – Of Quartz Review

Ola bonita chica’s!

How are you ladies all doing this weekend? I hope you are having an amazing time! I am back today with another eye liner pencil review and I feel like I am all about these or lip glosses or brow products! I am sorry and I will try and bring more variety into your lives. But this is such a pocket friendly and cheap option that I just had to share it with all of you today. Sit back and let me take you through this review quick and easy.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Kohl Eyeliner Of Quartz

Product Description:
This new re-vamped collection of Wet n Wild eyeliner pencils hit shelves earlier this year to a whopping response. The main thing about them is their price. Because they are so super cheap, I think they found their way into a lot of makeup bags and even though they have been a hit and miss for some shades, it does not break your heart because you are not shelling out a whole lot for them. I love that they are so skinny and long because I have not seen an eyeliner pencil like this. I have also picked this shade because it is so unique! Let me tell you more about it.

USD 0.99 for 1.4 gram or 0.04 oz of product. Now tell me this is not a great price for an eye liner pencil!

My Experience with Wet n Wild Coloricon Kohl Eyeliner – Of Quartz:

I was immediately attracted to this colour when I saw the pencil because I figured it is so different, so it will not hurt trying out something new! But after using this, I am a bit on the fence as to whether this was worth my $1 or not. With such a cheap price, it does not hurt finding out that a product does not work very well, but somewhere you still feel oh why did I waste $1 on this?! Does this product make me feel that way? A little bit to be honest and let me tell you why.

Like all the other pencils in this range, this one too is the same colour shade on the body of the pencil as the shade to make for easy identification of the pencil. I love the play of words in all the names of these pencils. “Of Quartz” is a bright metallic purple colour which is a shade you do not come across in a pencil eyeliner. This is a very smooth shade to apply with no tugging during application, but it is almost too smooth. I do not think that this shade will fare well on oily lids because the consistency of this shade is extremely creamy and almost greasy.

Also, sharpening this pencil is a huge issue. I have never managed to get it as sharp as it was the first time I opened this product. This pencil is so skinny that it does not fit in any regular cosmetic sharpener. It sharpens to some extent and then the tip just remains blunt. Also, every time you use this pencil, it becomes blunt. I mean to say that if it is completely sharpened before use, then one use will make it completely blunt. I have tried to document all of this in my photographs. So, this one pencil will finish pretty quick if you use this semi regularly and there will be a lot of wastage as you will have to keep repeatedly sharpening it.

Dark purple eyeliner

There are no funky smells to this product despite its ingredients. The colour payoff and pigmentation is fantastic and I love how electric this metallic purple is. I use it on my waterline and lash line and layer it with many different eye shadows for different looks. I have also tried to use this as an eye shadow primer, but there is one basic flaw with this greasy eyeliner. This particular shade flakes a lot and gets crumbly with use. You can see the evidence of this on my wrist swatches as well as in the photos where I have used this on my eye and it is plain to see the “crumbs” of this on my eye lashes.

You can also note in the wrist swatch that the colour pay off is a bit uneven although this is not as noticeable when used on the eye.

The lasting power of this on the waterline is immense and it is even more so on the lids, but again people with oily lids may tend to notice that this smudges.

Probably not because this shade does have a lot of cons, but I am happy I got to experiment with this.

Even though it is not an everyday use colour, I would say yes because it is cheap and why not try it out once because it makes your eyes pop when used on the waterline! If you are not a fan of metallic purple though, skip it!

  1. Samrita, love how the purple has come out on your eyes, too bad the pigmentation and texture isn’t good enough 🙁

  2. I like the shade, it flatters brown eyes very well, I feel. Sad to know about its negative points, though 🙁
