My experience with Wet ‘n’ Wild The Naked Truth Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette:

Wet n Wild eyeshadows are one of the best that you can find at the drugstore. They are of excellent quality and at a great price. You can find them in singles, trios, 8 pans or these newer 5 pans versions. While the formula has been great in terms of texture and pigmentation, Wet n Wild decided to reformulate the eyeshadow formula last year to eliminate parabens from the ingredients. These 5 pan palettes are of the newer formula.

Packaging:
‘The Naked Truth’ comes in a small five pan palette with a transparent lid which closes securely. It is quite travel friendly and the transparent lid makes it easier to see the colors in the palette without having to look at the name or open the lid. It is small enough to carry in your handbag, if needed.

The palette comes with 2 tiny brushes – A sponge tip applicator and a mini plastic-bristled, angled eyeshadow brush. I have tried using the sponge tip applicator and it was not bad.

The five shades in the palette are marked as Brow bone, Base, Definer, Eyelid and Crease respectively. Moreover, the label on the back of the palette has an image depicting which color goes on which portion of the eye! This makes it very easy for eye makeup beginners.

Color and Finish:
The Brow bone shade is a shimmery beige color. It is slightly too frosty and needs to be used sparingly.
The Base shade is a matte beige which does a good job of evening out the eyelids and providing a good base.
The Definer shade is a dark cool-tones brown with a matte finish. It is a good color for the outer crease and also as a subtle liner.
The Eyelid shade is a taupe shade with a soft shimmer finish. It looks very pretty as an all-over-lid shade.
The Crease shade is a medium brown with flecks of gold sparkles. This might not be an appropriate crease shade, though!

Texture and Pigmentation:
The brow bone shade is quite powdery and not very pigmented. The definer shade feels dry and chalky. It has good pigmentation but applies somewhat patchy. The other three shades are quite soft and creamy. They are well pigmented and are easy to blend.

Longevity:
The lasting power is quite good. Without a primer, they last on my oily eyelids for over 6 to 7 hours before fading slightly.

Pros of Wet ‘n’ Wild The Naked Truth Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette:

  •  Beautiful colors for a neutral, every day look
  •  Inexpensive
  •  Most colors have good pigmentation
  •  Most colors are soft and creamy and blend easily
  •  Decent lasting power
  •  Slim travel-friendly packaging
  •  Paraben free

Cons of Wet ‘n’ Wild The Naked Truth Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette:

The browbone and definer shades are disappointing with drier texture and are powdery.

Recommendation:
The newer Wet n Wild formula is definitely not comparable to the older formula in terms of pigmentation and texture. WetnWild is reformulating this formula again and the newer version of this palette should be available soon. Overall, this is a decent palette with neutral shades, but since there are so many neutral palettes available in the market now, this can be easily skipped until the newer version is launched.

    1. Oh, I did swatch them, Arja! I had three swatch pictures. I think they are missed out accidentally. Maybe the moderators can help include them now, if possible? 🙂
