Worst Makeup/ Cosmetics Product Ever Bought: Survey Result

angry women screamingReading the result of Worst Makeup Product Ever Bought survey reminded me of a scene in ‘Jab We Met’ where Shahid Kapoor Asks Kareena to voice expletives for her ex-boyfriend. And soon all the choicest expletives came tumbling out. Well, we did the same when we conducted our ‘worst makeup product‘ survey and ask our readers to voice their reasons for naming a product as the worst product they every bought. We gave them a chance to vent out all their repressed anger, the burning desire to hit someone for making them buy that product. The worst makeup product survey became our most interesting survey it seems. In a minute you shall see why. πŸ™‚

Normally, I’m a stickler for spelling, grammar, and presenting things in an ordered manner. But I felt that editing these responses would make them lose some of their flavor. 1. I would like to add Maybelline ultraliner liquid eyeliner in black, flakes off and irritates my eyes! Worst eyeliner purchase ever!

  2. omg the very 1st point abt maybelline dream mousse i soo true… it flakes and falls off while applying

and MAC !YEAH MAC LIGHTING IS SOOO BAD, that mus give u wrong shades of foundation and compacts all the time… and my 1st purchase was compact ,looked orange on my skin and was wayyy darker! and second one was wayyy lighter..mac realy needs to improve store lighting :reallypissed: :reallypissed: :reallypissed:

  3. loreal true match truly doesnt match!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :stars: :stars: :stars: :stars: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :stars:

  4. itssss suchaa longggg listttttttttttttttt 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐

  5. ohkk… i wud like to mention something on dis….
wen it comes to makeup and skin care.. thrs nothing like one things suits/fits all…. wht may work grt for a particular peson , may react on others’ skin…..
for eg. d very first thing mentioned in this list, maybelline dream mouse blush … i saw wen jinal applied it on her cheeks, it lookd grtt, n she likes it too
i personally use johnsons baby lotion n it works well on me…
wht i wud lik to advise all d girls here on IMBB is to select ur products carefully….. if u knw dat u hav sensetiv skin, buy good skin care products, try to look for words lik hypoallergenic, non comodogenic … also if u hav oily skin get som good quality mineral make up….

    hope i make sense….
this is just my personal opnion O:) O:) O:) O:)

      1. noopur the dream mousse looks looks good after aplying no doubt but theres a lot of product wastage coz while applying a lot of it keeps flaking and falling off…. πŸ™ πŸ™ its difficult to apply … product consistency is not good πŸ˜• πŸ˜•

        1. neha i am not in favour of a particular product n not anti it too…… dat ws just an eg.
we alll can hav diff opinions on a similar product..
i havent used anything from maybelline dream mousee range so i cant comment on its flaking part… i just saw it on jinal, it lookd good, n even she finds it good… πŸ™‚

    1. Noopur,

agree to everything that you said πŸ™‚

Waise by logic the reverse could also be true- that these products are REALLY bad and they work for some select few. πŸ™‚ Not trying to negate you, just pointing out that the sample space is still too small to say anything conclusively.

      1. may be sanjeev,.. but u knw some ppl hav dat extraa super sentive skin dat even d most normal product can react thm….
acha my bhabhi has such maintence free/ kharcha free skin… dat she uses all non branded at times such hideuos se brands wale facewashes/ creams n her skin looks good… (she doesnt workout or follow a good diet :P)
also , d same lotus gel creme i m using for d past one month now , she used it n it broke her out, reacted badly/ n her skin became horrible…
alll i wanted to say is, thr r things tht may not work for u , but thy may work for others…

        1. hmmm… you know why law operates under ‘not-guilty unless proven guilty’ thing? Because the underlying assumption is that you may let go many guilty persons but you should not punish a single innocent person.

By the same logic in a reverse manner, if the product is working badly for even one person, should I take it to be a good product?

I would understand if a product has something like “NOT for sensitive skin…” written on it. If it’s not written then?

          1. 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐
my bhabhi hates d lotus gel creme n had planned to throw it away… dats wen i started using it… its my HG cream now.. even rati likes it… i cant call it bad because it its working on me… :victory2: :victory2: :victory2: :victory2:

            1. Lol, My biwi and I were discussing it abhi and she whole-heartedly agrees with your comment. And so do I, but up to a certain extent. You are absolutely right that these products may not work on some people but for some others they might work like a charm. I agree to this without a whimper.

The small region where I disagree (and it’s a very small region mind you, because I have a feeling that I am making a ‘rai ka pahad’ and I shall shut up after this) is solely this- that these products can be classified as good products also. I have three points to make.

              1. By your argument, the real ‘bad’ product would be the one which works on nobody. I still have to see a company which releases a product that works on nobody during their testing.

              2. Cosmetics are not life-or-death things. But suppose there are two car companies- one which does not release a car unless its life bags prevent fatal injury in 100% of cases in crash testing, and the second which releases a car if its air bags prevent fatal injury in 80% of cases in crash testing. Which car would you prefer? What kind of doctor would you take your loved ones to- one who is right 100% of times or the one who is right 80% of times?

              3. As I said earlier, this survey data is too small. But could you possibly imagine a survey where all the worst products are from MAC, Lancome, Clinique, Estee Lauder etc., and not from these companies? I cannot imagine that right now. The only MAC product mentioned here was a mistake of the MUA. If you also cannot imagine that kind of survey result shouldn’t you question why is it so?

              1. makes sense sanjeeev…. πŸ™‚
1st- i am absolutely not into an argument here… πŸ™‚
                n u knw,
i was all for branded , expensive cosmetics/ before i joined IMBB…. d first e/s quad i bought was frm YSL as i thot it wud wrk well… but later i realised that even d coastal scents 88 palette which is almost 1/2 in price works well….
also, we cant be judgmental abt a prodcuct by considering just a single person’s opinion….
for me, i hav seen nothing cheap (in price) works…. πŸ™ πŸ™
but i just feel tht such a list cud be a little discouraging for my friends who cant afford all the lancomes n MAC s… n depend on budget brands…
i got my make up done from a professional MUA 3 yrs back n i clearly remebr she used mostly VOV stuff…

anyhow, i think u do have a point tht we rarely come across bad products from all good/international brands …

                1. Hehehe..this list should be taken more as a ‘caution’ list by your friends, i.e. these products may work for them but it would pay to be careful. You have already given the best advice- to look for words such as hypoallergenic, non comodogenic etc. πŸ™‚

By the way, I published this list more for the interesting remarks and not so much for the products. :secret2:

                  1. i knw yar, πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
but i ll giv another eg. πŸ˜›
MAC studio fix fluid breaks me out but Oriflame mineral foundation doesnt… πŸ™‚
1 aur… i got thhis whole kaya skin care pack free from kaya ppl in some promotion.. i used the toner n my face was full of rashes…. i went to d kaya clinic whole angry n agitated n shouted on thm but thy told me it is clearly mentioned on the pack tht it will sting badly if u hav sensetive skin….. πŸ˜›
ek toh yeh india mei samples dene ka riwaaaj/trend kyun nhi hai i dnt get it…..
d last time i was at Kiehls ka store, i wanted to buy somthing , but since it ws for lik som 3000+ i thot i shud start wid a sample… i asked for a sample n the SA s looked at me as if I committed a crime,,, thy even refused tht thy dont hav samples…. as I was walking away from d store, thy probbly noticed all my aldo/mango/zara shopping bags n said thy think thy hav samples in stock…….. 😐 😐 😐 😐 😐 i just refused to tak the samples n left… 😐 😐 😐 😐

                2. Noopoor must MUAs in Delhi use VOV product becasue 1, they are very pigmented and 2, they are cheap. I am not sure of you have noticed it nor not they layer up VOv eyeshadows with base, aqua eyeshadow base, then eyeshadow and a lot of times shimmer. Also they are makeup artists and they know how to make their things work. When i was doing course at VT, a lot of make up sellers were coming there to sell stuff to students and we were so asked to buy those products. I did buy a VOV palette but honestly i really don’t like it. it has so much of fall out and I have to do really good eyeshadow base to make it work. I dont have so much time and really most women don’t have that kind of time. Also , I feel we should buy products that are good for our skin. I mean i shudder to think what will happen to my lids if i start using VOV every day (considering it has some mysterious ingredients).

                  1. ohhh…. i seee…. i havent tried anything by VOV, but a frend of mine loves its eyeshadow palette……
n true dat thz MUA know how to make things work… πŸ™‚

        2. my bhabi is ditto ya…no sunscreens..random cream n moisturizer..cheapo type facial kits..n stil she has a baby soft skin:)
PS-she also doesnt follow any fitness or diet regime..she juz stays happy wid wat it is

  6. It was a long list..almost read it all now and I totally agree with each and every thing :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo: :waytogo:

  7. I could identify my maledictions on AVON stuff on the List…But I think Noopur is right-Maybelline Matte Mousse is my favorite foundation although it tops the hate list of many-similarly the Lakme Creme compact was a major waste for me-although most people like it-However it was fun railing at the stuff that failed πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€

  8. (Johnsons baby milk lotion)
“…… and i have to throw dat bottle away as there’s no baby around me.”

    :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

    LMAO !!! Awesome compilation !!

  9. Waise, I don’t know if I should say this but there are rarely any high end brands here. They are very conspicuous by their absence. Either there are very less users on IMBB using high end brands or that the high end brands rarely have much serious problem.

    Which one is it?

    1. I would go with high end brands rarely have a problem. I need more monies so that i can put your money in buying only good stuff. O:) O:) and good stuff costs more. more monies, more monies. :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

            1.
Sanjeev just reminded me of my dad πŸ˜› πŸ˜›
I would go up to him and ask for more monies for shoppings and dad would be like ” beta tumhare and tumhari behen ki shopping ki wajah mere saare baal chale gaye ab aur kya chahiye ” 😐 😐 😐 😐

                1. Sanjeev, dont worry…you can always get a hair transplant surgery :yelo: :yelo: :yelo: :yelo: :yelo:
