Yardley London Red Roses Body Spray & Luxury Soap Review

Yardley London Red Roses Body spray and Luxury Soap review

Katrina Kaif

You cannot take London out of Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif. The gorgeous actress carries a little bit of her home city with her wherever she goes. How?

“Through my Yardley,” she says.

Everyone has seen her in the advertisements of the Yardley deodorant as she is the face of the internationally famous Yardley perfumes. With this, she also becomes the first Asian face to endorse the product.

As a kid, I always remember the small 6 pack perfumed body talc set from Yardley lying on my mother’s dressing table and I used to wear a small amount of one of them (so that mom couldn’t guess) and used be feel so happy. The fragrance was heavenly for me. So I associate Yardley with that intoxicating, alluring fragrance.

Yardley London Red Roses Body spray (150/- for 150 ml)

yadley london body spray

Product claims: Experience the classic scent of red roses in the scented body spray.
Ingredients:
Propellants are used in pressurised dispensing systems, such as aerosol sprays, to force a material through a nozzle.
Ethanol is miscible with water and is a good general purpose solvent. It is found in paints, tinctures, markers, and personal care products such as perfumes and deodorants. It may also be used as a solvent in cooking, such as in vodka sauce
Diethyl phthalate (DEP), Propylene glycol (PG) is a colourless, nearly odourless, syrupy liquid that is derived from natural gas. It is used in dozens of products that you commonly use around your house.
Triclosan is an antibacterial and antifungal agent.

What I feel about it: My word is exact the copy of the product claim. If you really want to feel and smell like roses then go for it. In India, it is available in 5 scents out of which this one is a tad on the stronger side. The other are :

Lily of the valley, Sandalwood, Jasmine and Lace.

About the packaging, the aluminium bottles are not overly attractive. Somehow, Yardley finds it best to stick to simplicity and grace. The ’Red Roses’ fume cylinder is blood red coloured with a red rose image in the front. The lasting power is pretty decent & stands for around 5 hours maximum. It provides a light, refreshing, long lasting, all over body fragrance. I am a big fan of very sweet and flowery kind of smell and Yardley provides such natural spray that makes me smell like true flower petals and they come in a convenient size that can be slipped into your handbag to give your scent a lift during the day. Buying this particular fragrance from Yardley was just an instinct for me coz I got tempted seeing the color and smell of roses. I have tried many deodorants like Eva, Spinz, Dove, Rexona, Nivea but I found this one the most appealing in its scent.

Pros of the Yardley Red Roses Spray:

  • Sturdy yet comfortable packaging. You don’t have to press very hard on the nozzle to spray the mist.
  • Cost is justified to the quality and quantity provided.
  • Easily available and that too in a variety of scents to suit individual tastes.
  • Apart from smelling good, you also feel cool and refreshed.
  • I have been using it for 3 months now and I didn’t feel any irritation or darkening of skin.
  • Product not tested on animals and is ozone friendly.

Cons of the Yardley Red Roses Spray:

  • I suppose the sober minded should avoid it since it can smell somewhat loud and garish, unless you are a big fan of roses.
  • An ingredient like Triclosan which is present in mostly all perfumes is under a dispute of whether or not being harmful for us.

Whether I will repurchase it: YES but the Lavender one next.
I rate it :-* :-* :-* :-* + 0.5

Yardley London Red Roses Luxury Soap (34/- for 100gms)

yardley london soap

Product Claim: This triple milled luxury soap gives a rich, creamy lather and is scented with the floral fragrance of red roses.
Ingredients : A long list of ingredients listed in the image below and explaining their use in soaps:

yardley london soap

Sodium palmate and sodium palm kernelate are core ingredients in many types of soap and are made from palm oil. Geraniol and Citronellol are the primary part of rose oil. Isopropyl Myristate is absorbed readily by the skin, helps cosmetics apply more smoothly and gives them a slicker, sheer feel. Cinnamyl Alcohol has no detectable potential to induce hypersensitivity in humans. Tetrasodium EDTA makes hard water become soft as hard water won’t get you clean. Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone in fragrances provides potential sensitization. Tetrasodium etidronate is used as a water softener in soaps to prevent soap scum and bathtub rings by locking up the calcium and magnesium in the water. Benzyl benzoate is used as a fixative in fragrances to improve the stability and other characteristics of the main ingredients.
My word on the product: Again the product is true to its claim. The soap is lovely light red in color. Its a mild and creamy soap which lathers well even if taken a bit on your hand. Smell again is divine, u smell like roses. Doesn’t leave the skin dry at all instead u feel super soft and pampered. I use it basically to wash my face & hands (as I use a shower gel to bathe :P) and I never found a need to use a moisturiser after that. My skin feel and smell good. 🙂

Gift pack of both products

Pros of the Yardley London Soap

  • I didn’t pay anything for it as it came as a free gift along with the body spray. I am happy using it now as it is really a luxury soap for my skin.
  • It’s silky smooth, creamy, moisturizing, clean, refreshing, and smells great.
  • Lasts for a long time as even a small amount of the soap lathers very well.
  • Causes no dryness or rashes on the skin.

Cons of the Yardley London Soap

  • Cost is high as compared to the other available soaps in the market.
  • Have no antiseptic value.

Will I repurchase it: Definitely if I’m not using a shower gel.
