New York Colors / NYC Blushable Crème Stick Plaza Pink Review

New York Colors / NYC Blushable Crème Stick

Hi Dear IMBB lovers,

I am reviewing today one of those products that are very good for some skin tones and not so good for some others and really horrible again for some! No wonder that makeup is called an art, as a perfect-10 makeup requires lot of knowledge, sense of what is right and more than that, what is not right. This is New York Colors Blushable Crème Stick, a product that got much raves and reviews when it was launched.

New York Colors Blushable Crème Stick

What N.Y.C says about Blushable Crème Stick:

Blushable Creme Stick:

Benefits:

Sheer crème blush creates a silky powder finish.
Soft and creamy formula blends easily with fingertips to desired intensity and coverage.
Convenient twist-up stick for quick application.
Dermatologist tested.

Key Ingredients:

Vitamin A, C and E.

Ingredients:

These were printed on the plastic cover coating of the product which was again blocked by the sticker over it. So, I have taken the list from internet:  Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Silica, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mica, Cetyl Dimethicone, Polyethylene, Candelilla Cera/Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Ozokerite, Octyldodecanol, Cetyl Palmitate, Tin Oxide, Diisopropyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Propylparaben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Retinyl Palmitate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Tin Oxide. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Carmine (CI 75470), FD&C Red 40 Aluminum Lake (CI 16035), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), D&C Red 7 Calcium Lake (CI 15850), D&C Red 6 Barium Lake (CI 15850).

The shade I have got is one called Plaza Pink.

Price:

I got this for around 350 INR here, but it retails for around 4$ and may be even less in US.

NYC cosmetics

Shelf Life:

It says till 2014[3 years], but I read somewhere that blushes stay maximum only for an year or so.

Packaging:

Okay, this is not very great, but this is a drugstore brand in US, so must expect cheap and value for price packaging. What I like is that the plastic packaging is decent enough and the cover is of the color as the blush inside, so selecting the product should be easy.

My Experience with New York Colors Blushable Crème Stick:

Before I got this, I researched the internet a lot and saw mostly nice reviews about the product. I decided to play smart and got the safest looking shade “Plaza Pink,” which is a very frosted light pinkish shade with subtle shimmer. Let me be honest here, it’s a beautiful shade, and the product is also very easy to use. I am a newcomer in the blush world, but it was easy even for me to use this and achieve decent looks. The shimmer is not at all over the top and looks very good for all-time wear. Also no irritation, no break outs, glides like dream, no bad smell and stays for a decent time of 3-4 hours (I have not tested more than this, I have this habit of washing face ever 3-4 hours and reapplying everything again).

Swatch below is taken with 2 swipes of the product and without any blending done. Notice that the peachy undertone is not visible on my skin, sigh!!

Do you detect a “but” somewhere? You are right. I don’t use this because this shade is absolutely ghastly for me. Really! I can see it looking wonderful on a very fair-skinned beauty, but for wheat-toned skin like me, this is an absolute No-No. My friend who is part Portuguese tried this and fell in love with this. It suited her so well, mainly because she has that wonderful even tone that all of us love and also she is superbly fair! I am guessing most Indian skin tones would clash with this one. I am guessing the shade South Street Sea shell should work for me and that is next on my list, but please note that I still love this blush for its quality and the look it can give to the right skin tone.

Swatch below is after blending it mildly. You can see the light pinkish shimmer shade it gives.

Swatch below is after blending it completely. The color is now evenly spread and gives a natural glow.

Pros of New York Colors Blushable Crème Stick:

  • Nice frosty pinkish color with peachy undertones (never shows on my skin but gave a natural pinkish-peach-ish look on my friend’s cheeks).
  • Shimmer is beautiful and not at all over the top and can be used for both day time and night time wear.
  • Soooooo easy to apply, this is easily a product for makeup-illiterates like me!
  • Buildable color, nice pigmentation, awesome feel and superbly creamy with good absorption.
  • Cheap, cheap, cheap!! (well if you are in the US, I am not sure if Rs. 350 is cheap in India)
  • Sturdy packaging with the cover showing the color of the blush.
  • Quantity is decent for the price provided

Cons of New York Colors Blushable Crème Stick:

  • It has parabens.
  • Availability is an issue. I think this one should be selected after swatching and not bought from internet aise hi!

Rating:

4.5/5 (deducted for parabens and availability).

Will I Buy it Again?

Definitely, this is a really nice product. I just have to find the blush that looks good for my skin tone, but all you fair-skinned lovely ladies out there, go for this.
